“Great room & amenities”
Reviewed 17 June 2012

My husband and I just stayed at the Harborside on June 14 & 15, 2012 and it exceeded our expectations. We booked in what the hotel lists as a 'Premium Oceanfront King Jacuzzi" room and it was fantastic. Nice large room with a pull out sofa and separate seating area. The deck had a perfect ocean view and it was great to sit in the hot tub watching the cruise ships with a glass of wine. The location cannot be beat. The hotel is within walking distance of all the pubs, restaurants and shops. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't move it until we left! Couldn't ask for a better location. We didn't use the pool area but it looked very well taken care of and saw quite a few lounge chairs available. We ate at the hotels Italian restaurant and the meal was fantastic. If you like calamari, I'd recommend it for a starter! All of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and accommodating as well. Overall we couldn't fault the staff, room, restaurant or location. We stayed in room 1061 and intend to return and ask for the same one! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Premium Oceanfront King Jacuzzi (room 1061) was stunning! Very large and the view couldn't be b...

We visited Harborside in early June of this year, 2012 and had booked a ocean view room with balcony jacuzzi. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a wonderful corner suite with an awesome view of both the beach/harbor and the larger ocean view out toward the islands. The accomodations were excellent -- full kitchen with dining table and sitting area and a separate large bedroom with a wonderful view and a gas fireplace. The wrap-around balcony with its own jacuzzi was to die for. Wow! The room was 1079, at the very far right back corner of the hotel. There are also two adjoining bedrooms that could be rented to go with this lovely suite. If you are looking for a special place for a special occasion, I'd certainly recommend the Harborside. Can't beat its location either. We felt like we were living in a fairy tale for the three days we were there.

My daughter, granddaughter, and I recently spent 2 nights at the Harborside Hotel and Marina after reading Tripadvisor reviews. This is a beautiful resort and I loved being a guest here. When I travel I look forward to having exceptional surroundings and knowledgeable staff and this hotel provides both. We were always met with a smile and my granddaughter loved how everyone always waved back at her. At 1 1/2 years of age this is important in her life and brought us all a smile. We all loved the room balcony and being able to sit and watch the boats come and go. Great concierge who answered every question we asked. Would definitely recommend this property to friends. Thanks so much for a great stay!!!

Since there are no "branded" hotels in the Bar Harbor - Acadia area, we searched online and in the AAA Tour Book for the best possible option in Bar Harbor. We selected Harborside, and I believe we made the best choice. The location of the hotel is right on the edge of town, and two miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park. The hotel is newly renovated. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms are beautifully re-done. The staff is friendly. The lobby is warm and inviting, and the pool area ia magnificent. We had a room with an ocean view, but I think next time I will ask for a room with both a pool and ocean view. For a small price extra, we included breakfast, and that was worth every penny. This hotel charges a resort fee, which is sometimes hard for people to justify, especially when you do not take advantage of the resort. Personally, I perfer that the fees be included in the cost of the room.

This Hotel is for the wealthy out-of-state folks who come to Maine. The Resort is very lavish and not energy-conscious at all. Our room looked like something out of park ave NYC. This USED to be a small, quant Inn on the water and now it's an enormous conglomerate. Very sad to see Bar Harbor taken over by the 99%. Just sad. If you want a small, quiet Maine Inn look on Mt. Desert Street where you'll find many old, quiet B&B's. OR if you like the big resort, big bucks vacation - Harborside is your venue.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view are limited for reasonable price. You have to pay big bucks to get a really nice...

The exterior property is gorgeous, we loved the pool and how it ended where the ocean began and was littered with fishing vessels. It is very literally "harbor side" . Very nice. Our room was spacious, large bathroom, the only negative feedback we have is that in our bathroom we noticed a couple of ants circling the wall and the furniture fabric and lounge furniture is very dated. I would expect more modern or classic pieces in such a pricy hotel. Also at the beginning of our stay there was complimentary coffee but it suddenly disappeared when we were checking out and could have used it the most! Steven at the front desk was energetic and friendly. Unfortunately it rained most of our stay and because of that we spent a lot of time in the hotel. We dined at the in house restaurant at least three times and took advantage of room service. Breakfast is okay if you get a specialty meal (we liked the french toast) but as far as the meat and scrambled eggs I would suggest for them to use more organic products it seemed a little packaged for the price, the ham was tough. We ate dinner there two consecutive nights, the first night my son ordered a meal and the waiter Christopher had made an error but he apologized and was attentive and we quickly got a new meal and a complimentary mousse which was delicious. The next night he ordered the same thing and our waitress Ariana remembered everything without writing anything down, we were impressed considering we all ordered personal pastas with multiple ingredients, she also made sure the ingredients on our salad were okay with out diet which is nice because we would have had to send it back which we hate doing had she not checked first. With our bill all our waiters gave us TripAdvisor comment cards. In conclusion, we enjoyed our time in Bar Harbor, Maine and shall we ever visit again the Harborside Hotel will be the hotel we choose.
