“A Magical Ride”
Reviewed 19 August 2012

We live in Bar Harbor and have watched the Wild Iris carriage and horses come down our street throughout the summer. When our anniversary was approaching, I requested a carriage ride as a present. My wonderful husband made all of the arrangements and asked another couple to join us. Our beautiful carriage arrived curbside at our house with two lovely, beautifully appointed Shire horses (Griff and Dick). Our coachmen (Mark and John) were delightful, humorous, and informative. And we were off -clip,clop, clip, clop - for an hour's ride around Bar Harbor. We let Mark choose the route, and he chose really well. It was wonderful to watch tourists' smiles as the carriage passed by. When our hour was over (all too soon!), we were dropped off at the Eden restaurant where we had dinner reservations. What a wonderful gift this was!

“"Perfect for wedding day...."”
Reviewed 21 July 2012

We just got married in BH in June 30. Mark and Zach met us with the horses and carriage at our BnB (Manor House Inn *****) after our short and private ceremony. We took a ride around town with photographer in tow and it could not have been more perfect. The tide was out and we even went out on the exposed 'sandbar' leading across to Bar Harbor Island and got some incredible pictures. We stopped at a few photo spots then ditched the photographer and took romantic ride and we felt like King and Queen! Mark and Zach could not have been more helpful and the ride was absolutely perfect. I had coordinated from Florida with Marc for weeks and it was the best customer service ever - responsive, very informative and accomodating, especially coming in from out of state! We even got invited back to the farm the next day to see 40 day old Shire foal. The Shire horses alone are worth the ride -they are beautiful! Thanks Marc! See you on our anniversary! “a charming sampling of a simpler era . . .”
Reviewed 13 May 2012

When we first heard the clip clop and saw the horse-drawn carriage on Main Street in Bar Harbor, we knew that taking a ride was just something we had to do.

We inquired at the Bar Harbor Inn where we were guests and were told that half hour carriage rides were available on the weekend for a very reasonable fee. We set a day and time and waited impatiently for our turn.

We were greeted by Marc and Zack of Wild Iris Farm who were decked out in their formal professional attire. Pulling the most comfortable Rockefeller carriage were “Dick” and “Griff” (short for Griffin), their two Wild Iris Shires. We were quite taken by these very clean, gentle, and sociable equine giants who welcomed our attention as they stood ready to begin our tour.

As we left the Inn, we noticed how smoothly the horses pulled the carriage and how elegant we felt as we rode like royalty throughout the streets and scenic areas of Bar Harbor. And, what a treat it was when Marc and Zack stopped at various locations along the route and took our picture in the carriage with such breathtaking scenery in the background.

If this is your first trip to Bar Harbor, you will learn much history about the town as Marc and Zack serve as your personal tour guides. And, you’ll feel like grand marshals in a parade as folks stop to watch and wave as you ride by.

There is no better way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion than treating yourself to this most charming sampling of transportation from days gone by. Or, just plan to slow down life’s hectic pace and enjoy the full flavor of pure simplicity!

“A carriage ride to remember!”
Reviewed 9 May 2012 via mobile

That is a great addition to the town of Bar Harbor. What a better way to see the town than the way it was intended to be. Wish I was getting married so I could arrive at the church in a horse drawn carriage. Take a ride with Marc and Sandi you will always remember your trip to Bar Harbor, I know that I will! Thanks for such a wonderful time.
