What a beautiful piece of history. Everything looks so well preserved or you can tell that the people have taken great care of the light houses. You can see many seals in the water as well as up on the rocks around the light houses. It's breath taking. The seals are ginormous! Very friendly and curious to what you are doing. I would definitely recommend seeing these.

We have passed this light many times in our boat and since the water is deep around the island, you can come quite close. However, today we took some pictures from the very top of Cadillac Mountain and it was a lovely sight. Usually, the seals are now the keepers of the light. Most of the boat tours will take you close enough for pictures, but there is nothing like making a circle around the island in your own boat. Hint: Bass Harbor light is the most photographed in the area and can be reached by land for close-up views on the rocky shore.

A beautiful drive! There was so much to see and so many quaint shops to stop at. The ocean views were amazing!

Up close with this abandoned lighthouse on a boat tour at low tide. Lots of seals basking in the 70+ degree weather. Interesting historical story and how families used to live on the island to keep the lighthouse fire stoked. Hard to get a good view of this island, unless you are on a tour boat.

It's nice to see lighthouses like this still working, even though the lighthouse keeper has gone away. The seals have taken up residence out there on the island and the occassional bald eagle. Be sure to see it on one of the many tour boats when you are out and about.
