If you came to Bar Harbor for the town and not for Acadia National Park, then Agamont Park is a good spot to watch people and boats. This is a nice green island in the middle of busy Bar Harbor when you're tired of crowded sidewalks, souvenir shops and restaurants. The grassy park has a refreshing fountain, many trees and and flowering bushes and a great view of the harbor, distant islands and all kinds of boats from sailboats to sloops to lobster boats to ocean-going cruisers. The park also has wifi for those who absolutely have to check their email on their smart phones. But Bar Harbor is only a small part (and not the best park in my opinion) of Mount Desert Island - get out of town and onto the trails or explore some of the smaller villages where the views are just as good and the place not so crowded.
