“(A tardy) Review of our August, '04, visit to Hearthside ...”
Reviewed 10 November 2004

My wife and I had a wonderful time in Bar Harbor this past August. This was our first visit to Hearthside and we had a great experience there. The inn is extremely comfortable and well maintained. Barry and Susan are gracious hosts and made us feel truly welcome. Susan handled dining and recreation arrangements for us - a great help. Breakfast was delightful - a nice variety of food from day to day in a relaxed environment.
If you're trying to pick the right B&B in Bar Harbor, you can end your search here and rest assured you've made a good choice.
We look forward to our next visit to Bar Harbor and will certainly stay at Hearthside again!

We have been guests of the Hearthside Inn since 1987 when the present owners, Barry and Susan Schwartz, opened for business. Meticulous in their housekeeping, hospitable beyond expectations, the inkeepers attract a most friendly and loyal clientele that seems to connect magically around the breakfast table or in the afternoon at tea time.

We have seen the Hearthside Inn evolve over the years under the skilled direction of Susan and Barry as they made improvements annually to their beautiful Bar Harbor house.

You will be delighted by the Hearthside Inn -- guaranteed! Just go and see for yourself.

We were immediately impressed by the quality of the room (Romeo & Juliet Suite) which was beautiful...as was the entire home, inside and out. Furnishings, lighting, decor, and colors were all excellent. Every serving (at breakfast and tea) was delicious, especially the COFFEE ! We enjoyed the comfort and elegance of the home as well as the warm welcome and charm of the hosts. Barry & Susan were available to help with recommendations for dining, suggestions for activities, and offers of assistance in any way. We felt very much at home. We visited in the ealy fall (3rd week Oct) and the home was kept toasty. The jacuzzi tub was helpful following a hike at Jordan Pond. The home is centrally located for a convenient walk to points of interest on Main Street, but still at night and restfull for sleeping in the wonderfully firm king-size bed. It was a busy weekend for our hosts, but they were always cheerful and this infected the rest of the guests. Nice atmosphere ! Susan mentioned they had been in the business for 18 years ! We hope they continue for many more, as we'd love to come back. I'm not surprised at all that they have a #1 rating, and think it's well deserved. They are thoughtful enough to have provided Susan's TV to watch the first two games of the World Series in the comfortable common living room, that was great--thanks guys ! Yes, my sweetie and I had a wonderful time and met some fine folks, what a terrific weekend !
