The staff was friendly. The breakfast choices were plentiful. In the cold weather we liked the access to hot water for our tea or a splurge on hot chocolate. The have complementary blueberry and maple taffy at the front desk. The room was large. The king bed and 5 pillows were comfortable. You can walk toward the inlet and visit all of the shops and restaurants.

We stayed in Bar Harbor Grand Hotel during Veteran's Day weekend. Many businesses close during the winter here but we found many still open. However, the hotel did close after this long weekend.
It is a beautiful hotel, a replica of a historic house on Mount Desert Island. The location is excellent, on Main St toward the end of town. You can easily walk from the hotel to the waterfront down Main Street where all the shops are located. There is also off street parking behind the hotel.
This weekend they had their Early Bird Pajama and Bed Races. The local shops have sales from 6 AM to 9 PM (some continue through the day) with extra discounts if you are in your pjs! That made it super convenient! Get out of bed, put on a jacket and walk to the sales! The sale were excellent as well. At 10 was a parade of beds in the race (local businesses sponsored), and at 10:30 they race down main street. A fun event!
The breakfast is advertised as an extended continental breakfast, which we found to be very good. It included, egg, sausage, bacon, cereals, bagels, English Muffins, breads, oatmeal, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. More than enough!
It is also very near Acadia National Park, only minutes away. We were able to make it to watch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, which is the first place to view this in the US.at this time of year.
Overall, I would recommend the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel to ensure a very enjoyable vacation in Maine!

Number one was the staff, they were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast person made sure there was plenty of everything to eat. The rooms were clean and very nice. Being right in downtown Bar Harbor was a bonus. We were there for the annual pajama sales and bed races. We really enjoyed our stay at the Bar Harbor Grand.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor but I'm sure every room will be good

Great location just minutes from the harbor and downtown, off street parking, nice large rooms. Breakfast options were great and there were Gluten Free options on the bar which is so important for some travelers. Staff as helpful, rates were good.

Room Tip: If you are willing to walk up the stairs the King rooms on the second floor have the best prices.

Wonderful hotel in center of Bar Harbor. Parking in Bar Harbor is extremely tight and the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel has free parking. Hotel is within walking distance of most everything in Bar Harbor.

Staff very friendly, breakfast buffet was excellent.
