Stayed here for 4 nights and great choice. Nice big room, comfy bed and (mostly) peace and quiet although a little noisy last night as walls are not too thick dividing rooms.

Rooms are cleaned daily and always found mine in good condition.

Bar Harbor is about half-mile so easy to walk but then again usually places to park - remember this was in May though!

Would I stay there again - yes already looking for 2015 but perhaps 2 weeks later as weather was cold.

Family-run business. It might seem a bit old but it is very clean and the bathrooms are new.
Great location - less than half a mile from Bar Harbor center. We walked to avoid the hassle of finding a parking spot in the downtown area.
The place has a working WiFi and has plenty of charging stations. Great friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.

The Highbrook is the best place to stay in Bar Harbor if you are looking for value and quality. The family lives on the property and keeps the place in great condition. Rooms are quaint and neat, very clean, great beads and pillows. Very close to downtown, not a bad walk if you want. Nice little breakfast you can pick up on your way to Acadia. Perfect place to stay for couples unless you are looking for the Ritz Carlton (which is not worth it anywhere on MDI).

The Highbrook Motel is REALLY fantastic! An older place that is NOT a national chain, but locally owned, so that's just one more reason to come here to stay. We were here in early June, just after they opened for the year. I made our reservations using the phone and internet, over the prior winter months, and the owners were very diligent in following up & communicating, by phone and email- to make sure our reservations were intact. We found the motel to be absolutely delightful, with very large and clean rooms. In true old school 1950s style, each room has a screen door! The motel is just outside of a bar Harbor, it is literally two minutes to down town, and Acadia National Park is just up the road in the other direction. We found the prices very reasonable. Considering the small town hospitality, the cost, location, and general ambience, the family owned and operated Highbrook Motel is the total package. EDIT: I am writing this review way after the fact. We were there in June 2012- the review format wouldn't let me go back that far to put in when we were there.

This place made us smile! It was a step out of the chain type hotels and the resort mentality. We weren't sure about the motel set up but decided to give it a go. It was easy to find, and the front desk was very helpful. Our room was a bit retro-but that's part of it's charm. It was immaculately clean, and the room was super quiet to outside foot traffic and adjacent room noise that is all to common in the hotels we've stayed. Spacious and comfortable- it fit everything that we needed. Their continental breakfast was as good as any, and it was a 10 minute walk into town, (but it's an easy walk, with a sidewalk the entire way). We used this option a few times as parking in Bar Harbor was a bit hard to find in the afternoon and around dinner time. They are also the Acadia Park shuttle route, which seems convenient if it's a service that would be needed. Overall we were very happy with our stay and if we were to go back, we'd pick this place again!
