“Quiet and Private!”

While staying here for a week with my mother, I felt very at home- the area was very beautiful and quiet. The staff was very helpful and was happy to answer any questions we had about the area. I would highly recommend staying here, and it's only a few minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor!

Room Tip: Cabins vary in capacity and price, I would suggest calling to make sure you are getting the kind of...

maybe we got the crappy cottage, seeing the other reviews here, but what a dump. I thought we were getting a kitchenette, but just a fridge. The ceiling was sagging due to water damage and it smelled like mold. The bedding was old with holes in the blankets. And their website touts" the cottages under the peaceful pines" - yeah, with the traffic flying by all day and night!

Room Tip: don't choose cabin 21

Stayed here for 4 nights with adult daughter and our 2 grandchildren. Cabin was clean and comfortable and staff was friendly and attentive. This is an excellent value for the area and very easy to access all parts of the island from. You may want to check with the owner as to which units best suit your particular needs as some of them are more recently renovated. The pool was heated and much enjoyed by our grandkids.

Room Tip: Check with owner as to which units have been recently renovated.

My fiance and I stayed in one of Hinckley's Cabins last summer for our week long stay in Bar Harbor. It was awesome! After days of rough hiking on the trails it was so nice to come home to our cozy cabin. We slept so well! The bed was super comfy and the cabin was always cleaned very well when we returned in the evening. We bought some of those "fire starters" from the front desk and couldn't get a fire to start so the owner came out and actually made one for us and it burned all night--made for some yummy s'mores! Really great budget friendly place and very close to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Room Tip: Cabin 14 was very cozy and clean! :)

We visited over the 4th weekend, the cabins were clean and staff was friendly. About a 5 minute drive to town, which was nice to escape busy Bar Harbor. They also have a pool which came in handy in this heat!

Our trip to Acadia/bar Harbor was fantastic! Hickley's was super! I will certainly go back! We had a wrap around deck which came in handy for eating breakfast and dinner! It was peaceful and the staff were all super friendly and helpful! (As was everyone I encountered on my trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor!)
I loved the wood walls and ceilings! I slept wonderfully! It had air conditioning and everything we needed to use to cook our meals! Great location! Great price! Third vacation to bar harbor and I will certainly be returning! To hickley's as well!

Room Tip: Cabin 11 was great! Some are more modern than others! Check them out, each cabin is unique but all s...

There is no other place this close to ANP Visitor Center and Bar Harbor that a family of four can lodge for a week under $700. (2013 June pricing) Our family has returned to Acadia each year for 20 years - sometimes more than once a year. We have camped in 5 (FIVE) of the area's campgrounds and rented cabins, some with more "features" than others.
I write this review because I am quite surprised by some of the previous reviewers' experiences, particularly with the staff and with some of the more rustic cabins. For the price, we were delighted to discover that daily housekeeping service was included - clean towels, trash removal. Some rentals at this price require you to bring your own linens. We stay in Cabin #4 - our third time in that cabin. The fireplace and king size bed (comfortable!), 2nd bedroom w/ 2 doubles are the best features of this cabin. We brought a portable charcoal grill for outdoor cooking, though the gas stove worked fine. (oven, however, did not seem to heat up as previously observed).
As for the staff: Recently during our stay the outside temperature hit an unprecedented 85 degrees with no relief at night. With no A/C in the cabin, I went to the office to ask about a fan. The staff went out of their way to find a stand fan for us. They were also very helpful in suggesting places for firewood. Housekeeping staff were friendly and we found the place clean and ready for our visit, with extra pillows and blankets if needed. While the online reservation system is quite handy, the owners require half downpayment mailed to them. The website is clear about this policy and if you want a GREAT experience, communication is key! There are a variety of cabins for different tastes.
If you are looking for a good "base camp" at 2 steps above camping and are realistic about what to expect for your $ then look NO further! Bonus: walking distance to Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf. The ONLY downside is the proximity to Rt 3 - the main roadway to Bar Harbor from the mainland. But this is the only thing that keeps me from giving this property 5 out of 5.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for more comfort and convenience than camping can offer with charm and personality.
