We traveled from Miami with two young children (3, 5) to enjoy the fall foliage. After much deliberation, we chose to stay here due to its proximity to Acadia and on-site facilities. Since it was the end of the camping season, we had our choice of sites and opted for R1 with a view of the ocean. The site is near drinking water, and in a gravel cul-de-sac with trails along the water, so perfect for the boys to explore. It is a bit of a uphill walk to the bathroom/showers and playground, but worth it for the view and seclusion. Due to the government shut-down, Acadia was actually closed during our stay, but we still walked in the park along the carriage trails. BTW we bought our firewood at the office, since it was much cheaper than the stores in town.
