“Nice Trip - Friendly Operation and Great Narration”

Acadian Whale Adventures
Reviewed 11 June 2009

We went out on the “Acadian” boat for the 2 hour “Nature Cruise” on June 2nd and really enjoyed it. The narrator, a big ol’ ship hand, had obviously made this trip many times and was well versed in the area and local lore. He really made the trip. During the trip we saw local mansions and several of the out islands. We also saw Harbor Seals and Bald Eagles on Egg Island. They provided blankets to the unsuspecting but we were glad we had brought extra layers even though it was a beautiful, sunny day on the dock. Once away from the island it was quite breezy. Binoculars are a must and were available to rent on the boat for $3, I think.

We were in Bar Harbor in mid June, I was told that is a little Early in the season for whales. We did see one finback whale but none of the dramatic breaching that can be seen humpback whales. A fairly disappointing trip, but that is nature.
