Was looking for a spot in the center of downtown and close to the island bus system without paying a premium-this spot worked. Across from the lovely park in the center of bar harbor it is up the hill from the water and right by the majority of the restaurants.
The owners are local and felt like I was experiencing Maine a bit more than the bigger hotels down the road.

Geez, we've been staying in the area for over 30 yrs and never stayed here.
We were introduced thru a Groupon. Our room was #6 and had a balcony porch at the end of the Hall between the rooms. Quite nice to sit on and people watch.
The Hotel is diagonally across from Bar Harbors Center Green and the Front porches do offer a nice place to sit and relax.
Everything was better than expected. They are under new management and I did get a chance to speak to the front desk. Although I did not tell them about the fridge (that was older and didn't get super cold - but was chilly), I did comment on the parking. There is no Handicapped or assigned parking available. My wife is handicapped but able to walk with a cane, we arrived around 8:30 and all 7 spots up-front were filled, we had to drive to the back which is much lower in elevation and presents itself with an immediate narrow flight of steps up to the Lobby which is in the rear...additionally, once checked-in, you have to walk thru a narrow twisting hallway all the way to the front of the facility to get to the steps to get upstairs. My suggestion to management was to inquire with EACH booking if special parking will be required (with proof upon arrival from the renter such as a Handicap Plate). Spots should then be numbered such that management could hold back enough spots up front for those that truly need them. Entry to the facility is then made on 3 WIDE steps to get inside. Staff took the suggestion as a good idea.

Room Tip: Tell management to reserve a spot for you if you are handicapped. There is no wheelchair access or H...

Dear Dazataz,

Thank you very much for your warm review. We are always happy when people enjoy their stay. Your comments concerning parking have been well received. We now have a reserved handicapped parking space for guests requesting special parking. This allows them to enter via the front door and avoid the narrow hallways.

Thank you again, and we hope to see you again in the future.

this little gem sits right on the common. once you park your car ( free parking ) you can walk everywhere. the bus stop for the national park tram. is right out front. the rooms are small but clean and comfortable. small fridge and coffee maker fit right in. wrap around porch with lots of afternoon sun to sit and watch the action. the staff was friendly and attentive. wifi and coffee in the lobby, what more could you want???

Room Tip: go for the rooms in the back, traffic noise can be a little loud. wont keep you up but youll notice...

Great little inn- loved the central location. The Cadillac Mountain Suite is the way to go!! The only draw back- I thought there would be views of the ocean. It is not right on the water but only a block or two from it. Had a great experience- wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

We loved our two night stay at the Acadia Hotel. This quaint little hotel is within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and activities in downtown. It was exceptionally clean and the staff was very friendly. We would not hesitate to return as it was just what we wanted.

Located right on the village green in town you really could not ask for a better location. Everything is within walking distance but at the same time the quiet, comfortable atmosphere of the hotel makes you feel right at home. The rooms were immaculate and staff is accommodating and very helpful with any questions about the town. The new owners have updated the hotel and it shows. All of these great qualities AND at a reasonable price, which is not always easy to find in Bar Harbor! Definitely recommend.

So, I may lose most of you with the concept of winter in Bar Harbor. We needed to drop off our son at College of The Atlantic in January. We expected just a turnaround, but instead had a cozy, intimate and spectacularly bright, beautiful, blue and white, winter weekend. While most of the town is closed, there are several local places with good food and friendly ambience. The Acadia Hotel is a small inn downtown that is being redone room by room. We had an attractive, room with outside access off the porch--newly remodeled with a deep, warm jacuzzi tub for an amazingly low price. Easy walk to scenic views as well as downtown. I'd go back as well in spring or fall (no real Mainer would ever go in season!!)

Room Tip: the king room with outside porch access was private and cozy.
