There are plenty of fine reviews of this hotel but I'm forcing myself to give it an average rating instead of poor and mostly because you can tell the owner cares. All of the areas we saw were covered in wallpaper. Maybe you like that. The rooms are small to tiny but perhaps that is necessary to be in such a convenient downtown location with free parking. The bus stop for Acadia National Park is steps from their front door. The shower is very small but what it lacks in size, it did make up for in water pressure-may have been the best shower pressure in Maine. The shower reminded me of what you might have in a RV. There was nice white bedding and a cuddledown coverlet but unfortunately it had a small stain on it (it's off white, so guess it can't be bleached) and it looked fairly new (so that's more of a traveler's fault for staining it). The major issue I had with the room was the smell. It did not smell fresh and clean but I bet this could be easily addressed. Of course, you don't want to put an air freshner in there because those really bother some people and cause headaches and would just cover the smell. I'm not saying it wasn't clean but it just didn't smell good, maybe like a mix of stale odors plus baby lotion. I just don't know. I even thought the bedding smelled funny but my husband said it smelled okay. The furniture in the room is white with beadboard and was in fine shape. We were toward the back on the wrap around porch and did not have a problem with noise. Overall, we were glad we only had to stay here one night and we got to a spacious, beautiful view the next two nights at the Bayview Hotel for only 100$ more which included breakfast.

We found our room (#8) to be just right, comfy bed, shower, fridge, space with access to the balcony or wrap around porch. Located right on the Village Green, you have easy access to all the Bar Harbor has to offer, including the free buses. The manager Peter and his staff were very accommodating and helpful. Thank you for a great vacation. We'll be back.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff and innkeeper were great to deal with, very accommodating and helpful. The location is outstanding. I found the rooms to be quite clean and well kept, and hanging out on the porch a lovely diversion.

We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for our first trip to Acadia National Park. The hotel service was great, the staff was very nice. The location of the hotel couldn't have been more perfect - located across from the Bar Harbor town green, able to walk to everything in town, yet the rooms were still quiet given the location. Also, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Will definitely plan to stay here again during our next trip to Acadia.

Writing from the hotel. They were just removing the balloons referenced by another traveler as we arrived. This is just off the square downtown. EVERYTHING IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. Parking is provided. Our room had two large windows and was decorated on bright yellow Victorian wall paper.

Staff ... especially Peter, the owner ... were most helpful. Restaurant recommendations were excellent. Also helped with a logistics problem we had with some legal papers.

Hotel rooms in Bar Harbor are expensive and these are VERY reasonable ... half the rate of the fancy hotels on the water which require transportation to get downtown. There was a concert on the square with luminaries last night ... right across the street.

Highly recommended.

We stayed here for my fiancées birthday this past weekend (7/27-7/29) The hotel staff was amazing... I called a week before my stay and asked if they would decorate the room with balloons and put beer in the fridge. They agreed to.... and it was beautiful. My fiancée was pleasantly surprised! We Stayed in the Cadillac Suite, the room is huge, the view on the private deck is beautiful, the Jacuzzi bath tub is an added bonus. It is right downtown with all the great restaurants and shopping. Everything was perfect! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: The Cadillac Mt Suite

The porch of the Acadia Hotel overlooks the village green so you couldn't be closer to everything in town. Having access to off street parking is great, especially when everything is a short walk away. The rooms were quaint and clean and everything a stay in Bar Harbor should be. I go to Bar Harbor every year and have stayed in the larger hotels, but I always find places like the Acadia Hotel add so much character and intamacy to the experience of the island. The staff was warm, welcoming, and more than accommodating. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!
