Thanks to the kind owner and employees I was able to hike Cadillac Mt and nearby peaks w/o having done the usual research that I do before a hike - especially one in winter. Due to not having a vehicle, the owner drove me to the trailhead! This was after giving me the appropriate maps and beta on equipment and routes for a successful trek!
I look forward to bringing the rest of the family back when we come to stay in town for the MDI 26.2 this Fall!
So convenient to restaurants and the coast! Right in the center of town! Thanks!

Spent the New Year in Bar Harbor and exploring Acadia National Park. Our host greeted us with such kindness. Took the time to show us to our room. The room was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. I was blown away to find out an 1/8" of ice and dusting of snow was cleared off my vehicle in the morning. Who would think someone would do that for you in this day and age.... Amazing gesture of thoughtfulness.. What We will be back and have already begun recommending the same to all our friends. We loved our stay at this fine Hotel.

January 2014 my husband and I drove to Bar Harbor to visit our son. We figured we would find "somewhere" to stay. While we were driving around we saw a sign for The Acadia Hotel in front of a beautifully kept home. We wondered if an overnight stay was something we could afford and were very pleased with their off-season rates. The Hotel is centrally located so we able to walk around town in the unusually mild weather. In fact, we didn't even use the car again until we checked out. Peter was a great host and a big help in locating a café for us to have breakfast. We will no longer have to wonder where we will stay in Bar Harbor.

Room Tip: Ask the staff for what you need, they will provide it if they can.

Loved the Acadia Hotel. Immaculate rooms, great staff, perfect location, and working wireless. We were looking to get away for New Years and the snowy beaches of Acadia National Park and salty grit of Bar Harbor in the cold winter were exactly what we were hoping for. Not a lot going in the town during the winter so decisions on where to eat/drink were easy enough and made for lots of encounters with charming full time residents. Bar Harbor is small enough that even in the bitter cold of the Polar Vortex the Acadia Hotel was in walking distance to every amenity available (albeit few). Peter was very welcoming, available, and accommodating - we actually ended up staying two more nights than originally planned to avoid some blizzard conditions and our car was shoveled and brushed off for us!

My wife and I decided to spend this past New Year's eve (12/31/13) in Bar Harbor, Maine. Bar Harbor Inn was closed, but this quaint little Acadia Hotel was open. It's has the feel of staying in a nice old house, though it's been a hotel for a long time. This is a great home base, on Mt. Desert street across from the Village Green, a few steps from Main Street. You are close to everything that Bar Harbor has to offer. The Hotel itself is very homey, but it's not like the Bar Harbor Inn -- there is no lobby or on-site restaurant or bar. On the other hand, you can walk to all the local restaurants and shops. We booked the Cadillac Suite -- it had a good sized living room with a single bed and a couch, a very large bedroom with deck (too cold to use), and a big bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub (all the rooms have doors for privacy if desired). The room was upstairs, and there is no elevator or staff other than the owner (who I am sure would have carried our luggage up for us if asked). Downstairs was a small, cozy room where coffee and tea was available all day, and doubled as the check-in area. There was lots of info regarding local attractions, things to do, and restaurants and shops. Free working wireless internet available. The owner is always around tending to his guests and their needs, cleaning the snow of our cars, etc. He delivered a bottle of champagne to all the guests on New Year's Eve (we chilled it on the deck). One word of caution -- there's not a lot going on in Bar Harbor in the winter (especially with the Nor'easter Hercules and the Polar Vortex). I look forward to staying again in the summer or fall.

Room Tip: For a few extra bucks, ask for the Cadillac Suite; it has a deck looking out to Cadillac Mountain, c...

Accommodations and amenities couldn't have been better. Even restaurant recommendations from our host proved "spot on."
BEST part was the location! Enjoyed music at the bandstand on the town green, right across from the hotel and nightly strolls thru the town to the harbor.
Great access to Acadia National Park and sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. Have already recommended to friends!

Room Tip: Our non-street side room was very quiet. When we wanted activity, we sat on the porch.

Stayed here in January 2014. Hotel was very reasonably priced. The room was charming and bigger than I had expected. The staff were very friendly. As it was -20 Celsius I was surprised by how warm the room was. Would stay here again if visiting the New England region again.
