“The perfect place to stay!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

My partner and I recent enjoyed our first time at the Maples Inn and we wished we could have stayed longer!

Mark, the innkeeper, was the best host from the moment we arrived. He spoils you at breakfast with delightful dishes like eggs florentine and pineapple upside down French toast!

His recommendations are also superb! Whether it was which hike to take or where to find the best ice cream he knew!

Our room was the perfect size with a little sitting area where we enjoyed a few glasses of wine at the end of each day.

The location is perfect, right off of Cottage Street and a few blocks from the village green where the Island Explorers depart for destinations all over the island.

We are so glad to have found this gem and cannot wait to return!

From the time we were greeted by the owner Mark to the end of our 5 day stay everything was magical. We stayed in the Red Oak Room and the availability of our own balcony was relaxing, peaceful and brought the sounds of the city into our room. We had the pleasure of performing our wedding vows at the inn thanks to Mark's fine assistance in helping us to obtain our marriage license, help with additional witnesses, small reception, assisted with taking pictures of the service and most importantly assisted us with choices for the minister to perform the service. I cannot express enough the love, warmth, support and lasting memories we experienced at the Maples Inn. Like I said earlier it was a magical place for us and I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We choose the Red Oak room because of the privacy and the outside balcony/ deck are.

My partner and I stayed pre-season in June and has a wonderful experience. As we arrived, Mark the innkeeper, was out working in the garden and welcomed us with open arms. Our room, Weeping Willow, was well appointed on the second floor with beautiful bay windows looking into the surrounding trees. In the evenings, we sat on the beautiful porch, chatted with passers-by and munched the delicious cookies provided every night! The Maples Inn is so convenient the village downtown while being quiet and lovely. Our bed was so comfortable after a day spent in Acadia National Park. We woke up to the smells of delicious coffee and extraordinarily savory breakfast to start our days off right.

Room Tip: The Weeping Willow room is located at the top of the stairs so you may here the comings and goings o...

My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying here for one night a couple of weeks ago. Mark is a truly wonderful host; very engaging and hospitable, and he made us feel at home immediately. The breakfast was excellent, and the room (English Holly) was very charming and cozy. The location is only a block away from Bar Harbor's shoreline shops and restaurants, and is very convenient for access to Acadia. We look forward to finding another opportunity to get up to Bar Harbor, and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

My husband and I spent two nights in the Red Oak room of the Maples Inn. Our room was located on the third floor and at the rear of the house and while the size of the room was modest, it had a private full bathroom and a large comfortable deck with two adirondack chairs and a table. The view was of treetops and roofs and it was an excellent place to relax and unwind with a cup of coffee or tea after a day in Acadia.

The B&B also features comfortable common areas including a sitting room and living room stocked with books and board games and a gracious front porch with rocking chairs.

I have only had one other B&B experience, but I have to say I really enjoyed talking with Mark, the owner, and the other guests about Bar Harbor and the National Park. Breakfast both mornings were delicious and throughout the day Mark kept the dining room stocked with coffee, cookies and bottled water.

Another plus - the B&B is a very easy walk to the restaurants and shops of Bar Harbor, but secluded enough to be away from the noise.

The only downsides... there is limited off street parking. And the bathroom of my particular room was small... but nothing someone who lives in New York wouldn't be accustomed to using.

I hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: The Red Oak room was fantastic, although it requires climbing two sets of stairs to reach.

Had a very nice stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Silver Maple Room on the second floor. Mark the owner is a very accommodating host and innkeeper. Breakfast was 8:30 every morning but he had coffee and tea , muffins and pastries out by 6:30 if you were an early riser. He is very very knowledgeable about the local restaurant and things to do scene. The inn is decorated with his antiques and things passed down from his family. Located within an easy flat 5 minute walk to downtown shops, galleries, restaurants, and waterfront. About 2 miles to Acadia National Park entrance. It's located on a very quiet residential street. Leave your car here and just walk around and enjoy the village.
