The whole hotel needs updating and looks a little tired. I booked for 3 nights based on the trip advisor reviews, and was sadly disappointed. The room was spacious, but the decor was outdated. Our bedspreads were faded and tattered and the carpet was stained. The laundry area was hot and expensive and cost $10 for two loads of clothes.
The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok, but had the same things every day. It was such a disappointment when compared to the Hilton Garden Inn we stayed in the night before and for less money.

My stay at Acadia Inn was wonderful. The room was clean, roomey and comfortable. The bathroom was very bright. I really liked the fact that I was on the third floor and able to open the windows. The staff were friendly, helpful and very professional. I went to watch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain in the morning and really enjoyed the continental breakfast that awaited me when I got back to the hotel. The Getaway Package was great. I can not wait until next Oct. so I can do it all again. Thank you Acadia Inn for a WONDERFUL vacation experience. The dinner at Bar Harbor Inn was very, very good and the wait staff was so much fun.

The Adacia Inn was a nice basic, older hotel. It was comfortable and clean and included a refridgerator, free Internet, and a basic breakfast. Driving is required to get to restaurants, Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park. The staff was very friendly. It was a good overnight stop on a long driving trip, with a nice clean laundry facility. Next time we will spend more time in Bar Harbor and will stay in town to enjoy walking to cute stores and nice restaurants.

We stayed at the Acadia Inn for three nights during August. We found nothing outstandingly good about the hotel but, on the other hand, there was nothing to complain about. There were lots of parking bays. Our room was fairly large, well equipped, clean and functional. The staff were friendly and responsive. The continental breakfast was adequate.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone seeking a base from to which to explore Bar Harbour and the surrounding area.

Pros: room was clean, we could control temp., the hotel-to-town shuttle was free and easy to use, the microfridge, mini gift shop and board games were nice touches; the kids enjoyed the pool and the breakfast, which was better than a continental breakfast.
Cons: stairwell smelled dirty, desk staff disengaged, room walls a bit thin, no scenic view from hotel, the walk to Bar Harbor is on a busy road.

The good: The hotel and the rooms are spotless. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful and the location is good - about a mile walk to the center of town and 2 minutes by car to the Nova Scotia ferry.

The bad: Noisy. You hear the people above you and their water use. Rooms facing front are subject to traffic noise. Breakfasts are mediocre at best with little variety. (artificial creamer - bleahh!). There are too many cheap touches - paper thin towels and bulk low-grade shampoo in dispensers. And the worst - and this is VERY TACKY - they put a "voluntary" charity donation on your bill without asking. It is supposedly for ecology and run by that great public minded group - the Bar Harbor Chamber of Conference. They will remove the donation upon request but it should never have been there. And if the Acadia Inn really cares about ecology, how about a place to recycle paper?

This feels like a family business. Hotel check in was pleasant and prompt, with helpful staff. You are located about 1 mile north of Bar Harbor and within a 5 minute drive to the ferry to Nova Scotia. This is a good choice for those who plan to take the ferry, as you can arrive the night before, enjoy Bar Harbor's plentiful selection of restaurants, and make a short trip to the ferry the next day. The hotel is unpretentious and offers quiet, clean, simple rooms with only the basics, with good value for the money.
