“Very relaxing vacation resort.”

This hotel is quite charming. The rooms are clean and this is the only hotel that has several heaters for the restroom. You can sleep in cool comfort, and wake up to a warm restroom with a hot shower. The hotel is quaint and charming and the food is delicious.

Room Tip: Rooms with a waterview are the best

We were in Bar Harbor several times this off season (winter and spring) and I have to say that the staff at the Bar Harbor Inn always goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. From the front desk to the doorman to the people in the breakfast room, each employee seems to have a great service attitude. Our room was spotless and the property is well maintained. We think this is the best location in Bar Harbor and always enjoy our time there.

My husband and I drove up to Bar Harbor on our first trip away from our 23 month old as well as our first trip to Maine. We couldn't have been more pleased with our hotel choice. We stayed in the ocean front complex facing the water. Highly worth the extra $ for numerous reasons. The views are to die for; the continental breakfast was in the same building whereas the other occupants had to walk over to ours; large, clean rooms with fluffy robes - perfect for having morning coffee on your balcony watching the fisherman boat by. We were there right before the season began but knowing the amount of visitors that steam into the town and the extremely inadequate parking spots makes spending the extra $ worth it as you can walk anywhere from downtown to the hotel. We gave it a 4 just because it is a little pricey but you're paying for convenience - a premium in this town!

This hotel does have the aura of days gone by, but some things need to be preserved and I think this hotel is one of them. The lobby is cozy and quaint. Reception was welcoming and pleasant. We picked a room in the lodge on the first floor towards the back. Was very quiet.

The room was clean. Loved the bathroom with quality fixtures. Water and pressure were fine. The beds in this hotel are very hard, not keeping with other hotels and their comfortable mattresses. When asked, they will put a topper on it for you. Internet, fridge and ceiling fan worked well, but the AC was not working. We tried to turn it on one day when it got hot. Most likely they have not turned it on for the season. We did not ask. The view from our balcony was beyond compare. Two comfortable chairs and a table allowed to relax on the balcony for many hours. We did have a gull that came to visit which I named Dude.

There was a complementary continental breakfast that had lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, Kellogg cereals, coffee cake, bagels, toast, and muffins the had been frozen and were not very good. Also plenty of coffee and juices.

All in all,I would say that the rooms are a bit overpriced. I would certainly not pay high season prices. The floors above do creak so if it is crowded I would probably stay on a high floor. I don't think they have elevators either. The rooms and stairs are on the outside just like a motel.

The staff at this hotel are excellent.

We planned a 2 night stay in the lodge for rest and relaxation. We paid $189 a night for a (K) 3rd floor oceanview lodge room. The location is wonderful...walking distance to shops/restaurants. We also walked the shore path right in front of the lodge...a delightful experience.
Sleep Quality - The mattress is VERY firm...we prefer a less firm (more comfy) mattress.
Room - The room is large with balcony and beautiful views of the ocean. It was clean and the decor was pleasant but, lighting was not adequate for reading. Wifi was complimentary and problem-free.
Service - All staff were pleasant and eager to please/assist.
Continental Breakfast was included in room price and the presentation was pleasing. The coffee needs some serious attention.otherwise, the breakfast was adequate.
Chose to have breakfast in the Reading Room of Main Inn second day......very good choice.
The atmosphere and views as well as the food made this an excellent choice....though pricey, it was well worth the price.
The extremely firm mattress would be a reason that we may not choose this Inn another time, otherwise we feel the value was good.

Room Tip: The lodge only has three 3rd floor oceanview rooms and they offer the most privacy and absolutely am...

We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing weekend. Beautiful view of the Bay from our room. The dining in the Reading Room was excellent and the continental breakfast was a great way to start the day. Friendly and comfortable. Bar Harbor is always a great treat and staying at the Inn is the way to go.

This was our 4th stay at the Bar Harbor Inn on a 3 night Island Escape package in the spring. Our first surprise was an upgrade from the Newport Building (our usual favorite) to the Ocean Front Lodge. Even though I hadn't booked our two couples as traveling together, Brittiany managed to put us next to each other after a few minutes effort. We like to share a single balcony at night, so we always choose the second floor. Breakfast in the Reading Room the first morning after our arrival was special as we were greeted by our favorite waitress from the previous year, Jessica. One of the things we like so much about this place is the staff. They are to a person, friendly and engaging. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food in the Reading Room is amazing. One of our party at dinner raved about the Cabernet sauce that came with the Filet so much that the chef sent out an extra ramekin of warmed sauce. None went to waste. The three nights went by much too fast, and we're already looking ahead to booking again next spring.

Room Tip: Go for a second floor just for the balcony.
