Swing set, pool, spa, room service and short walk to Bar Harbor - make this place very amenable to families. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and would come back again! Just a bit pricey for high season, somewhat understandable though.

I arrived on July 3rd for a 5 day trip. I booked this hotel back in April after reading previous reviews. I booked it under one of the Package deals. Worth EVERY cent spent. Check in was easy. As I was leaving to go to my room in the Newport Building I noticed they had cookies out with coffee or Tea. The cookie was great. The coffee and Tea is out at all times and one evening they had fresh fruit including chocolate covered strawberries! Internet was located in the same main lodge and free access to guests. Included in the Package deal was 5 breakfasts, 2 dinners, a lobster bake, a tour of the park (or if you want whale watching) and $20 card to use to shop in their store.
All the Breakfast were MORE than enough to completely fill you up. Dinner's were just the same as the lobster bake was too. Tax and Gratuity were included, just not alcoholic drink.
The property is right on the water and close to all shopping and restaurants. There is a walking path that takes you on a scenic tour of the ocean side, which is a must to do.
As I said before I stayed in the newport building which faced the parking lot, but that was just fine with me as the room was one of the best I have stayed in. Clean and plenty of space. There is a pool and jacuzzi (jacuzzi was not working when I was poolside but think they fixed it).
All the workers were helpful and polite. I had dinner in the lounge one night and the bartender Joe was great to speak with.
If you have any IFS about staying here, don't it was one of the best places I have stayed and I travel quite a bit in the US.

Wonderful Location- worth the extra money to be RIGHT ON THE WATER. Get a room in the Lodge with a Balcony overlooking the harbor. This is one hotel where paying the extra $ means listening to the waves all night.

The Bar Harbor Inn is by far one of the most beautiful hotels in the area. It is in the heart of all the action and provides excellent customer service. With all that being said I did realize that I was paying nearly double what some of my friends were paying by staying out of town only a mile or so. If your looking for a romantic getaway The Bar Harbor Inn is your place. If you looking for same great food, service and views at half the price, check out the SunSpree.

A great hotel in a great location. Our room was very clean and well appointed and looked out over gardens. We also had a spa tub - didn't ask for one, so not sure whether they are in all rooms or we were just lucky. Other rooms look out over the harbour. We had a continental breakfast inlcuded in our rate band, although not extensive, the choice was good and being able to eat it on the wate front was great. We did not use the restaurant as there are plenty in town, but the choice loked good and it was comparitively priced with town restaurants.

From the moment you enter the Inn, you are greeted with friendly and helpful people. I called the chef at the Inn and explained about my dietary restrictions due to Celiac disease. When I arrived at the front desk there was a note from the chef informing me that my dietary needs would be met. Every hostess and server from the Reading Room Restaurant to the Outdoor Grille Restaurant knew about my situation. They knew which dishes I could eat and which ones I needed to avoid. Traveling with Celiac disease is a challenge. It is not easy finding healthy meals. I highly recommend vacationing at the Bar Harbor Inn. The grounds are beautifully cared for with colorful flowers and quaint gazebos. You can ride a magnificent schooner and have a stunning view of the Inn. The most important asset at the Inn is the charming staff...who take pleasure in providing you with a wonderful vacation.
