“Nice Stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2012

The hotel is very nice and the staff is extremely helpful. Rooms are nicely appointed and super clean. We stayed for three nights and slept like babies! Nice comfy beds, too!
Both restaurants inside the hotel are worth a visit whether it's for a late night drink or dinner. A bit on the pricey side, but if you don't have a car, you don't have many options.
The only downsides to this hotel that we noticed were that, as I mentioned previously, there is NOTHING within walking distance to this hotel. Also, my wife and I saw a picture here on Tripadvisor of this hotel overlooking the water. That is false! This is not a waterfront hotel! Either someone is a very creative photographer or is very good at photoshop.
If we ever come to Quincy again, we'll be staying here. Checkout was a breeze too!

We like to say here when visiting family. It is close to rt3 and 128. There are lots of food options nearby that make the kids happy - Cheesecake Factory, Bertucci's, Boston Market, etc. We had a room on the concierge floor - it was clean, well furnished, and the beds were great. Room service desserts were on time (molten chocolate cake went down well). My only complaint is that you have to pay for parking - if it was located in a ciity center, it would make sense, but it is just another one of those icky Marriott extra charges - like the Internet fees that most hotels give for free.

For first timers, this is a large convention center Marriott hotel, located in Quincy about 20 minutes South of downtown Boston. Having been here with my family of 4, I will therefore not comment on the "convention" side. We have stayed here for 3 nights in May 2012.

THE GOOD
When we arrived on Friday past 9PM, there was a prom, and also a 7th grade graduation event. The hotel seemed very busy, but we did not have to wait for service at front desk. We never use the valet service, as every family member takes his own luggage. Hotel lobby was clean and well appointed, but not the latest trend.

RECEPTION WAS SWIFT AND ON PAR. The people working here seem well trained and experienced.

We asked for a QUIET room, considering the prom, and got what we asked for. We arrived in room 704, located on 7th floor, far from elevators and ice machines, but also from noise. During our 3 night stay, never did we here a sound coming from outside the room. Four elevators were fast and efficient.

BREAKFAST WAS PERFECT for us. At 13.95$ each (5.95$ for kids) for the cold buffet, it may not be the best deal in Boston, but it was fresh and plentiful, offered Starbucks coffee, and service was prompt and courteous. At some point, when you travel, convenience surpasses form.

On our last night, after having walked the Freedom Trail during the day, we watched a 2011 movie in the room for 4.99$ on the 37inch LG flat screen. Newest movies were 16.95$.

If, like us, you like to train during your travels, you will not be disappointed. The exercise room has it all, and surpasses expectations with a HUGE 25 METER HEATED LAP POOL, with 2 swimming corridors, and also a spa.

My 9 year old daughter forgot her iPod in the lobby on day 2, and it was nicely returned to her the next day by hotel reception personnel who had found it. Swell.

THE BAD
We were a bit disappointed when we saw the TWO DOUBLE BEDS in our room, instead of the usual queens. We asked to switch for a room with a king bed in the morning, but all rooms were booked. Be warned! My 14 year old son chose the single rollover bed, but complained in the morning of feeling the springs in the mattress. My wife and I did not have a good night in our double bed either, our MATTRESS BEING TOO SOFT and plushy. Bed sheets and blankets were a bit thin.

Reasonably sized bathroom, with fine towels, but with CHEAP SOAP and shampoo.

NO REFRIGERATOR in the room, but ice machine nearby. Bring a Ziplock plastic bag and a cooler.

Décor in restaurant, within orange color palette, was A BIT DARK AND DATED.

Even if the hotel is not located downtown Boston, there is a 9.00$ PER NIGHT CHARGE FOR PARKING. On our 2nd night, parking was very full, and we had to walk quite a distance to get to the hotel.

In 2012, I have yet to understand why some hotels still charge A FEE FOR INTERNET ACCESS. Marriott charges 12.95$ per night for Wi-Fi access (or less if you go for a 2 or 3 day package). Internet connection was slow.

My 14 year old was irritated by the fact that, in spite of him being a 5'9" tall experienced bronze medal swimmer, he had to be accompanied by an adult to use the pool. Hotel policy could ease down a bit.

CONCLUSION
Good all-round hotel that could benefit from an general overhaul (beds and linen, outdated décor, etc.) and more amenities (free Wi-Fi and parking), but makes up with efficient and courteous personnel, and better than average restaurant and exercise room.

Stayed here for 2 nights in May 2012 and we were very happy with everything. The huge bed was extremely comfortable, the decor, whilst generic as they always are in large chain hotels, was tasteful and looked fresh and the breakfast was superb. The best part though was the desk staff who were so helpful and friendly, providing lots of great recommendations and travel tips. All in all - a very good hotel at a great discount price ( thru Tripsta ).

The room I had was spotless (beautifully decorated!) and most employees gave very good service. Although the bar service was a bit slow... Good rate for the venue I attended for 3 days. I decided to stay one more night and it was an effortless process to do so. I also left passes at the front desk for someone else and the staff was happy to help. Friendly atmosphere!

Good stuff!!

Nice hotel but not near anything. You really do have to have a car to stay there, and they charge you 9.00 a night for parking, which is kind of high. Most hotels offer free parking. The only reason I stayed there was because it was convenient to Logan International Airport, and my final destination was towards Cape Cod the next day after my one night stay. Vending machine for water and soda on my floor was broken, and I had to go to another floor for a bottle of water, after having traveled all day and was very tired. You will find a bottle of Fiji water in your room, but if consumed, will cost you something like 3.00 or 4.00 dollars. Not worth it.

We stayed at the Marriott in Quincy in order to attend the Boston Marathon. The room was less than half the price of a room in Boston itself. The staff was very accommodating, the rooms were modern and clean, and the pool area added a nice option for relaxing. The restaurabpnt offered StRbucks coffee and a nice pub menu, although a bit on the pricey side. We would definitely stay here again. Because the T station was approximately 1 mile away, we waited for the hotel shuttle to drop us off and called for them to meet us when we were coming back from Boston. The children in our group were 12 years old and could handle the 15 minute wait for the shuttle and the 20 minute ride into boston. If the kids were any younger, this would have been a huge draw back. Also, we had free Internet in our room on one iPad, but not another so try your computer out before paying for the service.
