“Canceled flight.....pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed 5 September 2011

After a week long stay at an ultra luxurious lodge, our flight home was cancelled. With no room back at the lodge, a "back to the real world" reality check was handed to us by the airline. The inn keeper came and picked us up at the airport, checked us in and delivered our luggage to our room. Though in need of some updating, the room was clean, everything worked, and they even had wi-fi. I would stay here in a pinch. The inn keepers were very friendly.

We stayed at Antlers Inn one night before heading out to Brooks Lodge for three nights of camping and then again on the way back from Brooks before heading to Anchorage and picking up our rental car. Jim and Flora are EXCEPTIONAL in terms of their helpfulness and availability. We had a nice large room with washer and dryer and wi-fi connection. We were able to dry everything out and repack before heading out to Brooks Lodge. On the way back to Anchorage we stayed overnight again and dried everything out, washed clothes and re-packed for the next leg of our journey. That day we also fished the Naknek with a guide and my son said it was the most exciting fishing ever - had a 12 minute battle with a 10lb+ silver salmon that we cooked for dinner that night in our kitchen area at Antlers Inn - two hours out of the water!!! Jim and Flora were there to greet us upon arrival at the airport and provided transportation to/fro with all our gear which would have been a lot to lug around!! Also the NPS visitor center at King Salmon was REALLY interesting and had a wonderful hostess. If you get delayed flying out - they have terrific videos you can watch too! Jim and Flora make all the difference in an really efficient stay at King Salmon on your way in our out to the bush from Anchorage!

Room Tip: We stayed in a large suite - it was worth it to have the kitchen and laundry within our unit and lot...

There are only a couple of options for accomodations in King Salmon, Alaska, (we've stayed at both) and Antlers Inn is by far the superior one. Most memorable for me was the cleanliness of the cabins, they were impeccable! The Proprietor and his son are among the most gracious, friendly and attentive hosts we've ever encountered. The Inn is conveniently located across the street for the airport , and adjacent to a general store and restaurants. For your next, fishing, hunting or adventure trip to Alaska, I highly recommend you stop by King Salmon and the Antlers Inn.

I have been staying at the Antlers Inn since 2006. It's my town hub for kayaking, rafting and fishing trips in Katmai and down the peninsula, and it is a perfect place to rest up, get a shower, reprovision and reorganize before heading out again or heading home.

Plus Jim and Flora really do make you feel at home. They have helped me out with shipping boxes around, and storing kayaks and gear, and getting around the area in their vehicles. The Inn is expanding, but the hosts seem to keep up a really nice personal touch which may pleasantly surprise people from the lower 48.

Antlers Inn has the best value and cleanest rooms in King Salmon. It is next to the bank, restaurants, the store, and across from the airport. JC & Flora treat you like family. I stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment style with full kitchen although they have different types of rooms. They also picked me up at the airport and were helpful throughout my stay.
