The special exhibits are always very good and open views on cultures most of us are not that familiar with. Additionally, the permanent collection is very impressive and it is a very tranquil experience to explore on your own.

We were lucky to go on the free first Sunday of the month so everything about it seemed good value, of course.

An excellent and well presented display of artifacts. We particularly liked the Jomon exhibits of the non-Asian race that inhabited Japan 10,000 years ago. Pity there were no books about them.

I particularly enjoyed the Yoga Exhibit, but the rest of the family toured the whole museum. The overall consensus was that it was a very concise history of Asian history. Well worth the admission.

The museum is beautiful. A very reasonably priced cafe provided a pleasant lunch. Easy location for public transportation or a walk from the Union Square area of the city. Yoga exhibit on now is excellent. Gallery talks worthwhile.

Great collection of Asian artefacts, and the museum is facing a rather picturesque square. The City hall, Opera and Ballet buildings are just nearby. You might want to check your route in advance though, as Tenderloin neighbourhood is nearby as well.
