Not much to see here other than a view of Alcatraz and sea lions. No need for me to go here again and wouldn't take my family if they come to visit.

You're in SF you have to visit.
Ok it may be "touristy" in parts but walk the length from Pier 33 to Hyde St. Pier and you see history and historical ships such as USS Pampanito.
Views of Alcatraz island and Golden Gate.
Lots of restaurants and bars ok a few tourist tack shops but it's all part of the experience.

Pier 39 is the heart beat of Fisherman's Wharf. A city within a city, Or should I say an inland within an island. The people, the stores, the restaurants are all amazing

While in San Francisco you should visiti Fisherman’s Wharf, being on the ocean and made of lovely attractions, such as the mini cruise with the ferry.

been here many times in the past.
but my wifes 1st visit and she enjoyed it
the breeze kept the smoke moving along and lessened the stink
that has always kept me away from there. :D

This is the place to go for your souvenir and seafood fix. Lots of places to eat like Aliotos, Scoma and Boudins, as well as street vendors that look wonderful. If you want souvenirs, there are many shops that have lots of choices, not much variety between them though. Walked around in the evening and it wasn't crowded but there are enough people around to still feel safe.

I think it was the romance of the name. For me this was a see location. A local friend put me off staying there on the grounds it was touristy. A neighbour lived there in the late 1970s and thought it was great. I went - it was a crowded tourist hot spot. A dream was shattered - go and see for yourself!

There is a lot of stuff to do there but it's a little too much in my opinion. Just ok for me. The sea lions were cool but the stores were too touristy for me.

We visited here on one of the worst smoke days of the California “Camp Fire”. Besides poor air quality, we could not even see the Golden Gate Bridge. That said, it couldn’t take away from the festive atmosphere of the place. Most of the shops are your typical souvenir stores. The restaurants are the main attraction here. Plenty of locally caught seafood and chowder bowls. Plan on a good 2-3 hours just to mosey away an afternoon.

Lots to do, great seafood restaurants, street entertainers, a buzzing place. Easy walking distance to all the piers.
