We got this deal through “Express Deals”. Yes we saved some money on room but we spend it on valley parking… Hotel is conveniently located just block away from Union Square but we missed it twice bc there was no sign on the bldg. The reception area was nice and hip but to dark. We got junior suite on 4th floor. I’m just to noise so it did not bother me. Room, even though spacious did not feel “worm” or “welcoming”. Bathroom was small and it needed to be upgraded. Plus for nice soaps, shampoo and towels. Staff was friendly and helpful. One thing that surprised me was when we were coming back in the evening there was security guy standing by elevators asking us for room key… Over all it’s nice place. Would I stay there again? Maybe for one or two nights but not for a whole week.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding our hotel. Our hotel design is very unique in regards to our decor in our lobby and rooms. This may result in some rooms having more space than others and some rooms will have smaller bathrooms. Thank you again for providing us with your feedback. We take all of our guest feedback seriously. We do look forward to having you stay with us again.

I stayed at The Clift for 3 nights and I could not have been happier using this hotel as my base in SF. The location is amazing, about 300 yards walk to Union Square (where all the high end shops are) and so many great local restaurants. The decor at The Clift is wonderful, lots of dark wood and high ceilings. The one thing I love about Morgans Group Hotels is that they use modern furnishings in old buildings, in my mind an interesting an alternative combination. Our room was fantastic and spacious with a seperate dressing area and lounge. The winner at this hotel was the Redwood Room Bar and The Velvet Room Restaurant, both offered real knock out food (try the wagyu tartare) and cocktails, there signature martini could strip paint (just the way I like it). A special thanks to Ken and his team for arranging my reservation and all the staff at the bar, restaurant and particularly the concierge deserve a special mention. I have never known a concierge to listen as well as the ones at The Clift, their recommendations were so spot on.

We got a really good deal online to find our hotel in SF. We basically got something called "Express Deal" which is where you select the star of hotel you would like and the area you would like and they let you guarantee this with the best price. We selected 4* and in San Francisco, the deal guaranteed 4* and promised in the Union Square area. Perfect. In total for three nights it cost us a total of $485, Valet parking was very expensive.. an absolute rip off, and so we parked our car in a 24 hour car park around the corner.. I think the valet parking should be included, it was in our other hotel in Vegas.
Once we paid, we got the details of Clift hotel and it looked very nice online.
The hotel is very welcoming, the guys on the door were very helpful. They couldn't actually find our reservation for about 10 minutes but all was good in the end after they called reservations. Reception is large and trendy, very professional. There is a large log fire, its lovely to have a drink in the evening in front of. It's clearly a preference for a lot of people, we saw lots of business people coming in and out for meetings and even a wedding.
The room was comfortable and clean, lovely view of the city out of the window, air con and nice bathroom details, plenty of towels and nice soaps.
Would definitely recommend Clift! Lovely!

Stayed for one night in a king deluxe room. I was actually a little nervous after reading some of the negative reviews, but it was fine. Although the lobby is very dark, our room was very bright (big window, light colors). The bed was super comfy. The bathroom was really small, but fine. I was worried about the noise based on previous reviews, but it really wasn't a problem. Front desk service was great, as was the bar service. The complaints are - the tub drain couldn't keep up with the water pressure and the window in our room was slightly off track so it didn't close all the way. Overall though it was a pleasant one night stay.

Very nice stay during a week long vacation. Clean rooms and great staff. Was close to Union Square, theatres and restaurants. Concierge lined up trips and sent an itemized agenda to us. Restaurant in the Clift was good as well.
