“Nice hotel but small and noisy outside on weekends”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2013

Hotel Boheme is a very nice hotel. I was a bit surprised by how small the rooms are but I'm a typical American used to large hotel rooms. I've never been to Europe but my husband says they are more European style rooms. The hotel clerk was very kind and informative. The rooms were clean and they offer a nice night cap on the house! The location is perfect. We walked to the local pubs and ate dinner at an Italian restaurant nearby. I didn't sleep very well though due to the bar across the street. I am a light sleeper and the crowds were very loud until around 2:30am.

The Hotel Boheme is a small, hidden gem located in the heart of the Italian North Beach area of San Francisco. This old hotel is located on the second and third floors above store front-shops including an Italian pastry shop. It is a walk-up (no elevator) to each floor. The rooms are small by U.S. standards but very clean and comfortable. There is some street noise in the rooms overlooking Columbus Avenue but it quiets down around 11 PM. It didn't bother us but some people might find it objectionable. The best way to describe the hotel is eclectic, which fits right in with the neighborhood. The hotel and the area has a very European feel to it with sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Location is everything with Mini bus service and taxis outside the door. The hotel does not provide parking but there is a couple car parks located within walking distance. The friendly hotel staff will provide you with directions to the parking lots. They are expensive as is everything else in San Francisco. My wife and I will stay at the Hotel Boheme the next time we former San Franciscans visit.

Room Tip: Entrance can be a little hard to find. It is a single door with a small awning. Look for Calzones Re...

Location near the beach was the reason that my friend recommended me this hotel, but I found it perfect in every term. It is an ideal luxury hotel, great for business as well as leisure travelers. I stayed here recently for three days on a business trip and really enjoyed a lot. Location, service and quality of accommodations all are excellent here. Highly recommended.

My husband and I absolutely loved this hotel. Probably depends on taste, but we loved the decor and general feel of the place. Fantastic tiled bathroom and lovely eclectic bedroom. Friendly welcome and free evening sherry was a welcome touch after a long flight from London. Hotel was right in the middle of bars and restaurants, lots of local sights and walkable to lots more such as Lombard Street, pier for Alcatraz and cable car stops, etc so perfect for us - we unfortunately were only in San Francisco for 2 nights - we would have loved to stay here longer. If we're ever back we'll certainly stay at the Hotel Boheme.

Within walking distance to all major attractions with many top-rated restaurants located nearby. Very clean and accommodating with sherry served to guests in the early evening. Great staff of Charles, GiGi, and Stanley. My wife and I would highly recommend and would stay again. Location is near to MUNI bus stops and cabs are easy to hail.

I absolutely love this hotel! If you're looking for a small, quiet, very clean and well managed hotel right in the Columbus Avenue neighborhood, this one is for you. Be aware that it's quite small, but location is everything. You're walking distance away from Chinatown, Coit Tower, and Fisherman's Wharf. The only drawback is that if you have an automobile, there is NO parking. Street spaces are horrendously scarce and you're at the mercy of numerous prohibitions for street cleaning. Parking lots are rudely expensive. In short, the situation is nightmarish. Those of us who know the city well can survive. Tourists will go crazy.
Just downstairs from the hotel is an exceptional restaurant/ trattoria "Calzone's". Across the street is Pinocchio's or Panta Rei, both of which are very fine. One block north is La Boulange, an over-the-top French bakery. You will not be disappointed.
I would give the hotel an A-plus.

San Francisco is an expensive city by world standards for hotels.Hotel Boheme is a good option but be ready for european standards. The location is great being half way between downtown city shops and the wharf area ( basically on the top of a hill). Eating in surrounding areas is excelent with Italian and Asian food. This is a small hotel with few facilities just like typical Paris. The rooms are small and access is via rather narrow curving stairs. No good if you are infirm or disabled. We had a back room so little street noise but instead we had the noise and smell from the restuarant fans so could not open the windows. Old TV took up room when a small digital fitted to the wall would have been so much better. They kept our bags for us until our afterrnoon flight even although they have little storage space.
