We arrived at the door only to be met warmly and were helped in with all our luggage. That was the beginning of a very pleasant, comfortable experience. The breakfast is pure enjoyment... a different table setting each day. They make the stay personal and caring. We will be back November 07.

We recently stayed in one of the arpartments The Inn on Castro has. The apt., # 4, was lovely - bright, airy, with good views - and the noise level from the street was not bad. Can't comment on the breakfasts, because taking on of the apratments meant we were on our own for food - which was very nice in its own way.

However, what left a very bad taste inour mouths, was the lack of internet access we had in our room, although the website says taht there is WiFi access.. Yes, the Inn, across the street, would welcome us any time from about 8 in the morning to 9 at night to bring our laptop across the street and hook up, but this meant ringing the doorbell (since our apartment key was different than the Inn keys) and waiting for someone to let us in. Alternatively, we could go down a flight of stairs in our building and hope for a connection by the stairs one floor below. Had the innkeeper been honest with us about the ongoing problems with the internet connection in our room, we NEVER would have reserved the room. Even checking the weather became an ordeal!

Spent a week here in Sept 2007. Great location - central to the Castro area. The staff were incredibly knowlegable and often went out of their way to help with places to go and restaurants to book.

The rooms are a little small, but clean and bright.
The breakfasts were huge and we saved money by not having to get a big lunch. They even posted our postcards overseas without charging us!!

I would definately stay there again.

I stayed here for my 2nd time after receiving a recommendation from a friend. The Inn is less than 1/2 a block from the Castro Street Muni Station and "F" line trolley. Excellent breakfasts, nice roomy rooms. I'll be back again.

This has to be one of the best bargains in SF. I visit this city fairly regularly and have stayed at a number of places in a variety of locations and this is one place I'll definitely return to.
The Inn is small and located in the Castro district which could be best described as largely catering to the gay community. Maybe because of this, or the fact that it is not a very touristy area, the prices are very reasonable and include a delicious breakfast. Besides fresh fruit, homemade muffins, cereal, yogurt, etc they also prepare made to order eggs and other dishes depending on the day.
If you're unfamiliar with the city this may not be the ideal location for you as it's not particularly close to the easy modes of transport like the subway or cable car. If you don't mind walking a bit though and want experience one of the more colorful SF neighborhoods the Inn on Castro makes and excellent choice.

We were in San Francisco for around 8 days in June and chose an apartment at Inn on Castro as we wanted slightly more room and the facilities to cook our own meals, and we were not disappointed. The apartment was spacious, airy and very homely. Kitchen had a huge gas hob/oven with all the utensils, pots pans and cutlery one could wish for. Not to mention a coffee maker and toaster. There was also some fresh coffee in the fridge when we arrived, plus a variety of provisions (salt, cereal, flour etc.) The living-room was again spacious and airy, with a good sized dining table, stereo system and telephone. The bedroom, adjoining the living-room comprised a comfy bed, TV/DVD player and walk-in cupboard. The only thing that didn't work was the wirless internet, but since this was free, we didn't complain too much.

The apartments are a great find, especially if you are staying for a few days and want the independence from hotel servicing. However the maid did come in and change the towels/sheets once or twice in the 8 days we were there.

The location is extremely convenient to the bars and restaurants of Castro, and also 2 mins away from Castro Muni station. If you arrive from SFO airport, I recommend catching BART to Powell and then changing to the Muni. It's the cheapest way of getting to and from the airport.

In summary staying at the Inn on Castro apartments offer real value for money and allow you to believe (albeit for a temporary period) that you actually *live* in the beautiful city of San Francisco. Would we come back? I would live there if I could!!!

We stayed 1 night at the Inn on Castro ($119 USD) in a room with one bed and shared bathroom. The room faced the street - and as such, noise was to be expected - and it was noisy until 4 am - from traffic, street people and chirping birds. Earplugs were available in a bowl in the greeting area. Around 1 am - a guest came back late and rang the bell repeatedly and pounded on the door to get in. This went on for about 1/2 hour - after which it stopped. The room itself was basic - but adequate. The bed was a double bed - small for two middle sized people, but we are small ourselves so it worked. Some of the vertical pieces from the blinds were missing, so some light got in, and the closet door did not close properly - neither much of an issue. The room was clean. We choose the Inn on Castro for location - and there cannot be a better location to be had. Breakfast featured muffins, banana bread, fresh fruit salads, cold cereals, and a waffle or eggs - coffee juice etc. - very good. The man that owns and runs this B&B was gracious and attentive with each guest. We would stay here but would ask for a quieter room with ensuite bathroom.
