“Charming hotel”
Reviewed 6 July 2012

Stayed here for three nights in June, and we would highly recommend it. We loved the antiques, and comfortable lounge area with fires burning. Our room was fine, featuring a raised jacuzzi bath, which was great fun. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Example: we requested a corkscrew, and the receptionist also brought us a pair of elegant wine glasses, and encouraged us to sit by the fire and enjoy our wine.

The hotel is on a tourist itinerary and we felt very smug to see the tour guides peeping in and telling tales about 'our' ghost!

'Victorian' influenced hotel, has a very 'homey' vibe to it.
Very spacious and inviting.

Quite 'old school' but has everything you need.

Loved the afternoon biscuits and sherry.

Great breakfast every morning!

It is a good 20 minute walk into the heart of union square..

#TIP##### Take the town car instead of a taxi tot he airport, costs $50, smae amount (or less) than a taxi, and is a lot more comfortable! Set amount so the taxi drivers cant rip you off...

Stayed for 3 nights in May this year. Staff very friendly and helpful in giving advice on how to get around in San Fransisco.
Hotel is very "oldy worldly" and it was like going back 50 years in time. Some of the feature are quite something, for example the internal staircase going up 4 floors was very ornate. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and clean, offering all of the amenities that the big chains would offer( wifi, plasma tv, DVD player).
San Fransisco hotels are not cheap but in comparison, this was quite reasonable.
Well worth considering and it's location means its only a 20 minute walk from Union Square.

We had such a great stay at The Queen Anne. The room was fantastic. The beds were comfortable and the rooms could not have been more inviting. We came in the evenings looking forward to just hanging out in the room and relaxring. The staff was also great. Friendly and very accomodating. It's close to great restaurants and just a short bus ride away from everything. Very centrally located. LOVED it!

We stayed one night in June, 2012. We had a double queen room on the corner, 3rd floor. There was a charming windowed circular area with a very nice view of the surrounding neighborhood. A table and chairs with a lamp made this a delightful reading corner. The Victorian-decorated room was okay for me, but more impressive was the woodwork and antiques throughout the hotel. There are not just a few pieces; there are many, and I delighted in walking the halls of the different floors. Surrounding each staircase are delightful settees, tables, and lamps. The lobby was amazing. So, why a rating of 4 instead of 5? The price. I understand a Friday night should cost more than a weekday, but with taxes, our room for 3 people came to $343 plus we paid $19 (I think) for parking across the street. I would definitely stay here again, it's just a treat for the eyes, but I would book a room on a weekday in the off-season, or look for specials. On a side note, we had made dinner reservations at Baker and Banker for dinner, and I was surprised just how close it actually is to the hotel. It was an amazing meal, and it was so nice just to be able to walk there!

We spent a week here in mid-May. This is an older hotel, filled with many assorted antiques, oddities, and oldish furniture. We were greeted on the fourth floor by a church pulpit! We enjoyed the old world San Francisco charm of this property. Most of the guests were "over forty", like ourselves, or were from foreign countries. Not a destination for hipsters, I'd say.

The hotel is clean, and very quaint. Bed was OK, and there is plenty of hot water. Would like more electrical outlets, but that is probably a limitation of staying in a 100+ year old building. The continental breakfast is rather limited, but one can manage with it. The sherry, tea, cookies in the afternoon were most welcome after a busy day of sightseeing.

We give the neighborhood top marks for being safe and quiet. Japantown is just down the street, and it's very low-key, compared to Chinatown. We would walk several blocks from the #22 bus stop very late at night (once, after midnight) and felt like we were in a small, peaceful town. The hotel unfortunately has no control over the birds squawking some mornings on Octavia Street, but it was fun to see parrots in the trees across the street.

If we return to this lovely city - and I hope we do - I'd consider coming back here.

Thank you kindly Mimsydee. Did you happen to see the inscription on the pulpit that notes the year it was made as 1890? Coincidentally, that is the same year that our building was built.
