Our first impression was a bit poor - when we arrived midafternoon the bar was closed and the door just had a phone number for service. Since we'd only just arrived in the country we didn't have a phone so we had to get the attention of the cleaner in the bar to call someone. But after that it was all good.
Nice place, very clean, friendly staff, good common room. We had dinner at the bar/restaurant downstairs one night and it was excellent.

Room Tip: Front room is noise because of the street - bar downstairs closes at 2am, traffic noise, etc.

Sleep over Sauce is awesome. It's a perfect location to drop your bags and explore away.

The guys who run Sauce (the FANTASTIC restaurant below) are very customer service oriented (they even helped carry my bags up the stairs!). Once you make your reso, they email you a detailed description of policies and parking.

There are several floors in this building - try asking for a room on the 2nd floor above the restaurant since the restaurant is open late and can be a little noisy from the music. The rooms range in sizes (we had a King on the first floor). Most have been very nicely remodeled. The linens are fresh and luxurious. There is a huge Great Room with Wii, books and mags, a TV, lots of seating room and 24 hour b'fast goodies.

A cool note- they still use "real" keys - kinda cool.

One note - as you might expect, there is no onsite parking. The closest parking garage is only 3 blocks away and it's not expensive - $14/day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 2nd level up from the restaurant - the restaurant is open til 2am and it can b...

Sleep Over Sauce was spacious, comfortable and convenient. The room was large, the bed comfortable, the great room with the 24 hour fruit, beverages, cereal, large TV and the free WiFi was convenient. The neighborhood allowed easy access to the local transportation and the owners and staff were friendly and relaxed. Why do I say they are customer service oriented, I lost one of my diamond stud earrings while in the shower the morning we were leaving. As we had to catch the train, we didn't have time to inform management about the lost earring. My husband emailed them and they responded that they would check out the drain trap. I had no hope that they would do that, as we were not there looking over their shoulder. Lo and behold, a few days later, we received an email saying that they found my stud and the sent it to me by FedEx. Can you say "customer service"? They have it in spades. Check them out, you won't be sorry.

Sleep Over Sauce is not quite a hotel, not quite a B&B. There's a dozen or so rooms over a restaurant, so when you check in you check in at the restaurant bar. Nate who checked us in was beyond awesome. Helpful and accommodating in every way possible, whether it was running outside to hold the hotel door open so I could take beers upstairs, to informing us of some very useful parking tips nearby.

Breakfast is basic (breads, cereals, bagels, juice) but available 24h. Juice and milk was restocked frequently. The large great room was a nice place to hang out. WiFi was fast.

The hotel is located in a convenient area in the Lower Haight and for SF, pretty close to the freeway. Bed was super comfy. I have a new place to stay in SF, yay!

Stayed here in April 2013

A large room with two queen beds and a party sized bathroom with good quality supplies and nice touches for men & women.

The 24 hour continental breakfast is outstanding. I loved the relaxed check in Very close to BART and MUNI lines. Some of the friendliest staff that I met when in California. The bed I had was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lots of great restaurants at all price levels very close to this little gem of a small hotel.

Really good value for money I paid £110 for this room before leaving the UK

I will return to this little haven when next in San Francisco

Room Tip: Great Location, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast when you want it!!!

I stayed at the sleep over sauce for a couple nights while visiting San Francisco. The pros: the rooms are quiet, the beds and bedding are really comfortable and they provide quality bathroom supplies. They're pretty well located on Gough near Market, which provides easy access to the BART and MUNI. The people who work there are really motivated to create a nice environment and the great room with the tv, fridge, extra computers is very homey. The cons: its a bit cold in the morning and you don't have access to a thermostat. It is slightly annoying that the BART is 1 stop away on the MUNI lines. Finally, the check in time is a bit late compared to other places I've stayed at, but to their credit, they made a really nice effort to let me check in early and the great room is really comfy.

Above a restaurant with a few rooms. No permanent front desk. Very friendly service. Room was good, could be a bit noisy, but not bad. All in all, a good place to stay ! Would be happy to stay again.
All day cereal/fruit breakfast.
