“Awesome Hotel!”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

I was in San Francisco last week to see a performance of "The Book of Mormon" with my girlfriend, and staying at the Hotel Kabuki was the perfect end to our night. The staff was extremely friendly, particularly the young woman working at the front desk, Annalise. Delicious restaurants abound in the nearby area, and we had a perfect view of the sunset from our private balcony.

Room Tip: Upper suites have balconies and Japanese soaking tubs.

Green Features: Rooms are set up to save electricity, which is always awesome!

We were in SF to visit family & attend the ballet. We chose Hotel Kabuki because it is central to everything & we were very happy with this choice. The staff were great & our room a bit dated but nice in size. Fast easy mornings with in room coffee & the restaurant had a very good buffet with no wait & nice service. Parking was great too, we used the city garage located under the hotel with convenient elevator into the hotel & very reasonable for this city. We will stay here again, a great find for the price.

Wonderful hotel in heart of Japan town. We were celebrating our 20th and they send us champagne and fruits on the house, very surprise and nice touch! Great staff and very comfortable room, super comfortable bed with separate shower and deep soaking tub. They also had a Keurig coffee maker, I used it every day. We had a corner room which has more space but also have a wraparound balcony; you can enjoy the great view of the city.

Hotel is located right next to the Japan center, had many shopping choices and restaurants. We used the Japan town garage which is connected with the hotel and was very convenient. We took a flat $23 dollars day parking which is very reasonable for San Francisco.

Since parking is very hard to find and expensive, we took a bus, bus stop is only a minute walk, to the union square and purchase the on and off bus tour for 2 days, for $41 per person and it stopped all the major attractions in San Francisco so you don’t have worry about where to go or find a parking.

We’ll definitely use this hotel again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: corner room has more space and wraparound balcony

Green Features: They had a basket under the sink for recycle items.

Pacific Heights/ Japantown is a wonderful part of The City. Easy access on transit ( get on a Geary Bus!) Enjoy Fillmore St. & Japantown and the excellent accomodations provided by the Kabuki. The staff is always pleasant and helpful, the hotel is lovely and restful. One looks forward to returning here after a busy day of sights and adventures.

Room Tip: Oh boy spring for a corner view room!

Our family of four (two adult children) fit quite nicely in a room with a separate tatami space with a futon. Plenty of space for all of us, our stuff, and a table so we could play cards. We didn't have time to take advantage of the in-room sauna, but maybe next time. Excellent Japanese food without even having to find a coat and we love to wander the shops.

I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Kabuki. The neighborhood is very safe; I stayed for five days in November and walked in the evening without any issues at all. The shopping is great on Fillmore--a quick five minute walk. There are wonderful restaurants in the area and there is even a Japanese Mall connected to the Hotel. When you walk through the neighborhood, you get to enjoy the Italinate homes in the area up close and personal.

The hotel was lovely...lobby very inviting and the rooms were very spacious and clean. I enjoyed my corner room; it had character. The staff was very accommodating. The breakfasts were quite good with a nice variety.

If you are looking for a hotel with a lot of excitement, this may not be the hotel for you. It has a low key, calm vibe about it. Downtown is about 1-1/2 miles away; an easy walk or cab ride. I liked this hotel because it different; not your typical cookie-cutter hotel and room.

Room Tip: I enjoyed the corner room; great windows.

Very comfortable room. Excellent service. Hallways are in need of refurbishment. Elevators are kind of shaky. But what can you complain about? Deep-soaking tubs and you can park your car steps from the hotel elevator. And it costs exactly what it is worth.
