He said: The hotel is in good location, trendier side of town, it is surrounded by a lot of restaurants and night life. The hotel is walking distance to the wharf and AT&T park. It's an older building with a hip vibe. Love the room and the appointments albeit very small. Being an older building it contains all modern amenities such as the flat screen TV and contains extra touches such as bathrobes and marble countertops. The hotel offers complimentary Peets coffee, decaf and regular, and puts out hot water for assorted teas. Cons: Rude staff and parking is overpriced.

She said: I agree with everything mentioned above but would give the hotel an overall rating of 3 out of 5. The hotel room was accommodating to all of our needs and had a hip flair to it. The bed was positioned against a brick wall which was a nice touch in the room BUT the bed is about two feet away from the sink. Also, the room had a musky smell to it. Figured opening the window would air the room out but the window faced another wall. The room looked nice but it didn't have that crisp fresh feeling.

We stayed overnight at the Griffon Hotel, a charming boutique hotel, during the Memorial Day weekend. We were delighted to be upgraded to a suite on the 5th floor (number 505) by the extremely nice staff when we arrived. The suite had a small and very stylish small living area with some steps up to the bedroom where a bank of windows gave us an extraordinary view of the Bay Bridge, the Embarcadero and the Ferry Building. The location cannot be beat! A short walk took us to the Ferry Building and Farmer's Market where we had lunch. Nice walks along Pier 14 and the Embarcadero made for a pleasant Sunday morning. If the Giant's had been in town, we would have strolled over to AT&T Park to watch Melky Cabrera and Buster Posey hit some homers. Perry's Restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel, which is inviting no matter where you sit. The bathroom is a bit small, but perfectly functional and the bed is comfortable with good linens. The decor of the hotel is sophisticated yet welcoming. This place is a winner!

Room Tip: We loved the suite because of the front facing views of the Bay Bridge. I could see into other room...

We highly recommend the Hotel Griffon in San Francisco near the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. We have stayed there twice now and really enjoy it. The views from the Bay facing rooms are wonderful, and the hotel is immaculate and very well appointed. Great location for us.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Bay have beautiful views.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Staff is great. Perry's is a wonderful addition to the hotel with good food and beverages and they attract a nice crowd of people.

Room Tip: Bayside rooms are very quiet with a lovely view.

Hotel Griffon was the perfect location for us. We were able to drive straight to the hotel, park our vehicle and spend the weekend either walking or using the public transportation without hassling with traffic, parking, etc.. The Saturday Farmer's Market @ the Ferry Building is a great way to start the weekend. The hotel room was a little small but otherwise fine considering we spent little time in our room. The front desk staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcomed. We also had breakfast & dinner at Perry's. Food was very good! We would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Griffon is our hotel of choice when planning a weekend getaway to see a couple of Giants games. We are always greeted warmly by the front desk staff and valet people. The beds are very comfortable and our room has always been super quiet - my two most important criteria. It's a short walk to the ball park. Perry's downstairs is a great little restaurant but there are many more in the area. Great location for more than just baseball!
