We selected the Inn primarily for its location near a family member. We knew its bedroom was likely to be smaller than at a nice hotel, and indeed it was. The Queen bed and other furniture consumed most of the floor space even before our luggage was put down. The mattress bulged in the middle but otherwise was comfortable. Nighttime noise level was average at best. The bathroom was large.

I have to praise the owner and staff for enthusiasm and friendliness. Everything here was visually attractive, from parlor to the lovely garden.

The breakfast was pretty good, with lots of fruit and breads. Hot food was limited to two quiche choices. Several newspapers were provided.

We booked a parking space in their garage across the street. It took a lot of maneuvering to fit into the space.

Excellent room and service. Staff are professional and helpful. Breakfast is delicious and there is plenty of food and variety. The interior is well kept and the gardens and rooftop make this Inn a one of kind experience. Thanks Marty, Lisa and Megan

This was a gem of a hotel, Marty and Lisa could not have been kinder or more patient. The victorian mood of the large downstairs sitting room is amplified by candlelight (real) and gentle classical music that played constantly. Port and sherry decanters left out for a quiet snifter before bed after the rigours of sightseeing. Fresh buffet breakfast in or out in the garden when fine.
Our room had a funky little bathtub and was decorated with fresh flowers - as were all the communal areas. Sweeties abound in glass tubs (OK, candies to you), and beverages available all day, including hot choc with marshmallows. If you want a place with attention to detail and a considerate host, look no further. Thank you Inn, you started our holiday on a high note.

Room Tip: upstairs means a steep climb, but was quiet and near the roof terrace

Our stay at Inn San Francisco was too short and quite delightful. The hosts were magnificent, the accommodations pleasant and roomy, the food excellent. We were able to get free on-street parking, and parking is available nearby if needed. Walkable neighborhood, good public transit, reasonable pricing.

It was my first trip to San Francisco and this place was a treat! It's a short bus ride from Fisherman's Wharf, but there's plenty to do just by walking around the neighborhood. This location is easily accessible to the 101 as well as lot of opportunities to catch public transportation. Our host, Marty, was quick to make suggestions for dining and sightseeing, as well expressing a genuine interest regarding our adventures in the city. We felt welcomed and comfortable.

PLUSES:
Be sure to spend a little quiet time in the garden, as well as checking out the rooftop terrace...you get a phenomenally beautiful panoramic view of the city!

MINUSES:
I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked to, but that's part of a country girl being in a big city! The inn's website clearly states whether or not the room gets some street noise so if you're a light sleeper, be sure to book in advance for an interior room.

My husband and I were really pleased with Inn San Francisco. Our room was small (which we knew upon making the reservation) but there were many perks to this historic hotel: 1) beautiful outdoor hottub to ease our stiff legs after walking up and down the hills of San Fran; 2) rooftop patio with a spectacular view; 3) character and charm; 4) close to great restaurants (Flour & Water, Mission Chinese, Delfina); and 5) a really tasty breakfast (fresh fruit, torta...etc). All in all, this is a great find.

We arrived on Monday evening and were greeted warmly by Marty, the innkeeper who gave us a short tour and history of the place. He helped us find a wonderful place for dinner and offered to call us a cab. We had dinner with friends and when we came back late, Marty was still there and welcomed us home :) The Staff was great and even when there was a problem with the hot water, they fixed it asap and apologized profusely.

The breakfast was great and the other guests were a delight. The gorgeous room was so authentic, we felt transported back in time.

Finally, after a wonderful 3 days here, we had one last day to explore SF and get to the airport by 6pm. They offered to let us leave our bags while we toured and when we came to pick them up, Marty gave us a ride to the Bart station. An unexpected and welcome thing since we'd pretty much exhausted ourselves that day! All in all a delightful Inn and wonderful hospitality. We'll definitely come back!
