This was our 3rd stay at the Chancellor and the 2nd time this year! Yea, we like it that much! We just got back from 5 days in San Francisco and had a ball! We upgraded to a suite on the 15th floor facing Powell Street. The room was clean and spacious, bedroom, sitting room and 2 bathrooms. It is always quiet and we have never heard any noise or talking coming from the other rooms. No need for air conditioning, we keep the ceiling fans going and we love sleeping with the windows open. The bed is so comfortable that as soon as our heads hit the pillows we are out so any noise was not a problem for us. Not sure what they wash the robes in but they were very soft and smelled really fresh!

We had drinks at the bar during happy hour and each night there were plenty people there. We had breakfast and lunch in the restaurant. Not sure why so many people who stay at the Chancellor don't eat in the restuarant, the food is good. I had the build your own burger and it was by far the best burger that I have had in San Francisco and I didn't have to sell a limb to pay for it!

The staff is always cordial and helpful. We even had the opportunity to meet Wes and tell him how much we love staying at the Chancellor. You can't beat the cookies, coffee, apples and water, I mean you can but you understand what I am saying.

I know the rooms are small especially the bathrooms and the elevator is slow and there is no air conditioning, but there is so much more to the Chancellor which makes up for that and besides there really isn't much that can be done about those things, so just enjoy it!

And yes, we also heard the nightly trumpet player in Union Square, he wasn't bad just boring!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper and street noise bothers you, don't get a room facing Powell Street...

We loved our stay here. Room wasn't overly large but then we basically just slept in it anyway! Very friendly boutique style hotel. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Great location for everything. Lots of maps and information available in rooms which was also helpful. Excellent place to stay.

The Chancellor hotel is just awesome! It is so close to everything. The rooms are super clean, which I think is everyones first priority, and they have a great pillow bar, where you can choose your pillow to make your night sleep feel like home. Walking distance to China Town, Cable car right in front of the hotel, shopping and restaurants are just a hop, skip and a jump away. The staff is what makes this hotel so fantastic. Just can't say enough about Nate, he went out of his way to make this stay at Chancellor Hotel feel like home, we felt like VIP's. Harris the bellman is so friendly and is better than a GPS, front desk was awesome too. We stayed here in March of 2012, and will return again and again for sure when in SFO. Aloha, Jon from Hawaii

Would recommend the Chancellor as a place to stay, located right in the centre of town, but the cable car stops immediately outside the hotel make the rest of the city easily accessible.

Reasonably priced, staff were welcoming and helpful, would stay there again if I return to San Francisco.

Arrived early for our check in to find our rooms were ready, which was a huge plus, the reception staff were friendly and helpful. After just having been in a larger hotel in Vegas we found the rooms at the Chancellor to be small but perfectly formed. There was always free coffee water biscuits and fruit available in reception which was a nice touch. If you like being in City Centre's this is a great choice, the cable cars (give them a go they're great) .and buses run regularly right outside the hotel and Macey's is just across the road. This is a great hotel, but if we were to go back to San Francisco we would probably stay nearer Fisherman's Wharf area, that's just our personal choice. We had a lovely meal at Sears Restaurant (right next door to the hotel), the food was beautiful. We loved it at Fisherman's Wharf around Pier 39, pay a visit to the Tikki Bar, the views are brilliant and take a trip on the Rocket round the bay, it's great fun, Alcatraz is a must do, but book up in advance,

Room Tip: We had an internal room overlooking fire escapes, which were very quiet, our friends had an outside...

The Chancellor is a great place to stay. They give free Tea coffee & Cookies 24/7 :-), wi-fi throughout the hotel, Right at Union Square and walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping. Cable car right out the front door. The staff is friendly and professional. It is low key and relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the downtown area.
Would recommend booking the 4 day bus city site seeing tour/alcatraz tour in advance.
