My family of 4 booked a suite from Dec 4 to Dec 8 directly with Chancellor. When we arrived in the evening, we were shocked and disappointed to be told that somehow they were overbooked for their suites and could only give us 2 rooms instead. However, they were quick to try to make amends by offering credits for free breakfasts. By value, this actually amounted to quite a bit for the family. And 2 rooms meant 2 beds instead of 1 in the suite.
The first 2 nights were still cumbersome in separate rooms which were not connecting even though they were next to each other as we packed as a family with 2 kids. But they accommodated our request the next 2 nights with connecting rooms that probably worked better than the suite for us.
We found the staff here responsive to our needs and they do try their best. After our first night, we found that one of the rooms had problems with the lock and their maintenance guys were quick to resolve that. When I found the mattress too soft for my liking, they were also quick to send a board to try to solve that issue. Although I rejected it as the board looked soft and wobbly when it came, and the guys who came with it wasn't sure if it would work, nonetheless they made the effort.
Top marks for location and service. Yesmie,...My family of 4 booked a suite from Dec 4 to Dec 8 directly with Chancellor. Top marks for location and service. Yesmie, our waitress in the restaurant for breakfast was super attentive, and personable. Shopping was incredibly accessible and we even bought 2 for 1 tickets to ice-skate on Union Square. A good deal indeed. Tea and coffee making facilities in the lobby worked well for us. We had no noise issues. We read all about the no air-conditioning and about the fans, and as it was not warm this time of year, this was also a non-issue. Of course, constant temperature control would be nice but we still found a way to do this with the windows and the fan.
At the end of the day, although we were unlucky to arrive without the suite, Chancellor did all they could to make sure we were well taken care of with alternatives that were of equal or better value. We were lucky that Chancellor was responsive to this.More
