food in the restaurant was excellent. felt like a quality stay. the only thing is no a/c so I found the air a little still. Couldn't open the window when sleeping-road noise. but does have a great fan. bathroom is a little tight for space but this is a very old hotel-but very clean and classy.

Room Tip: go up a few floors so the traffic noise will be reduced.

This beautiful classic hotel delivers with price, well appointed accommodations, and friendly staff in the heart of Union Square and the city itself! The rooms are small but the comfy beds and gorgeous decor make up for the size. Lots of extra touches at this charming hotel such as big tubs with bath salts, fruit flavored water and cookies in lobby, and more! Can't find a better location for exploring beautiful San Francisco! Definitely recommend this charming hotel and staff!!!

We chose this hotel for it's location and I'm glad we did! The hotel room is not huge, but kept clean and the location cant be beaten, so many restaurants nearby and walking distance to china town too. I loved the fact that there's free wifi and free cookies downstairs at reception. The price you pay reflects the location, so you can get cheaper hotels in San Francisco, but the location wont be as central. I highly recommend this hotel and the staff are very friendly.

We chose this based on other reviews, and we are so happy that we did. I put the Chancellor app on my phone, and requested a high floor room. When we arrived, Rory was very friendly and efficient at checking us in. He gave us a room on the top floor, as requested. While the room was small, the space was used efficiently and it was very clean. The bed was heavenly. We appreciated all of the thoughtful things that were provided in the room: the higher quality toiletries, the umbrella, the candies to snack on, the different pillows you could order for your stay, the clean and already cold mini fridge, the earplugs (we didn't need them) and the cute little rubber duck. The location was perfect. We stopped in the small lounge for cocktails both nights, and enjoyed the hotel's atmosphere. We did not try to the restaurant.
I will definitely stay here again.

This is an older hotel but the room is in excellent condition, everything is shiny and polished. The free wifi works great, the daily housekeeping service is excellent, the coffee in the lobby (available 24 hours) is delicious. Union Square is an excellent home base for exploring San Francisco. Fun to hear the street car bells below and look out the window at the action on the street. We even heard live Latin jazz in the square on evening. Small room but comfortable.
