Wonderful hike from Lands End Lookout (visitor center) to Eagle's Point Overlook. It took at least 2 hours, allowing time to explore the Sutro baths and cave, walk the upper Sutro bath path, and go down to the Mile Rock Beach. Lots of stairs that I wasn't expecting, but a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Glorious views of the ocean.

We had one day in San Francisco and the thought of fighting with the crowds to do the usual cable cars and other touristy things didn't appeal so we drive out to Lands End. Loved the new Visitor Center and walked in both directions toward and away from the Golden Gate, about 2 miles total. Beautiful views and though it got busy in the afternoon, it was still better than being downtown. Great spot for a picnic! Bring a jacket, as depending on if the wind gusts up, you may need it.
The view on the ocean is amazing and listen to the noise made by waves and seagulls. Nature is all around, and if you want to go further wear trainers to easily walk on the trail to cover the 1.6 mile distance to Eagle point. From this path, you have access to hidden Rocky beaches right there in San Francisco. Beautiful. Love it.
Depending on your location and planning, best to visit and take pictures all together with a bus tour or some other car-pool travelling. A good spot to take some sketches and photos of the waterline too.
We loved the view although we weren't prepared enough for the cold temperatures so we didn't walk down to the water. I would have really liked to, so plan accordingly. Sunny and over 70 degrees downtown and it was in the low 50s and overcast at Land's End.
