I booked a bay cruise tour on the Blue and Gold Fleet at Pier 39 in late June, 2014, with my husband and 2 children (ages 4 & 13 years). We LOVED the tour! We got to go underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and we saw Alcatraz Island up close (tours were not available to go onto the island, so this was a good backup). The tour is narrated by a pre-recorded message which tells you about the historical places you pass and view during the tour. It's interesting and informative. There's a bar onboard, in case you'd like to get a drink. You may stand in an area on the bow of the ship, or there's seating inside. The tour lasted about an hour, which I thought was a good value. For the 4 of us to take the tour, it was $72 (the little one was free). I would definitely recommend the tour... but they also offer souvenir photos... WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Bring your own camera, because the views are amazing!!
