Owner description: From its vantage point overlooking the spectacular Golden Gate, Fort Point protected San Francisco harbor from Confederate and foreign attack during and after the U.S. Civil War. Its beautifully arched casemates display the art of the master brick mason from the Civil War period.

I was just strolling around the Bridge and got to this Point.

Nice indeed...another spot to get a good view of Golden Gate Bridge as well as famous San Francisco Bay...

Too bad I didn't have enough time to really enjoy everything..

Would love to get back hereee :D>..

Fort Point is a little known spot even to locals, that's what makes it perfect to get away from the city and just chill. I have never seen it crowded or unable to park the car and the view is breathtaking. The waters edge is steps away and is one of the most relaxing spots in this busy city. There are clean restrooms in the back of the parking area. Love ,love, love, this little bit of heaven.

Breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay! And great historical storytelling as well. I only had a short time there, but wish I could have spent more time leisurely strolling about. I will definitely go back there when I can.

We only had a day in the area, but a quick stop here was perfect. And we happened to be there for one of the final America's Cup race. Great spot to take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge.

a little hard to find (you need a car or a bike), but worth the trouble. This fort was built before the civil war and the Golden Gate bridge was designed to go over it. There were plans to knock it down to build the bridge, but preservationists prevailed and this remnant of a bygone age is still there for us to learn about the history.
