Owner description: From its vantage point overlooking the spectacular Golden Gate, Fort Point protected San Francisco harbor from Confederate and foreign attack during and after the U.S. Civil War. Its beautifully arched casemates display the art of the master brick mason from the Civil War period.

“Fort Point, I say the place is haunted. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday Only.”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Have you ever got that feeling where that hair on the back of your neck is at attention? Ever feel like someone else in the room but no one is there? Ok I said my peace on that.

Fort Point is a place feeled with lots of history, Lots of places to roam and explore. Look around and look close. Listen and listen good. Great Travels to you.

“An unexpected bonus”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

Who knew that the underside if the Golden Gate Bridge could be almost as cool as waking across it! Be sure to include this fort in your tour of the bridge. You will have amazing views of both sides of the bay, as well as the city of San Fran and Alcatraz island. The fort is interesting in itself, and offers some great photo ops. Plus you get amazing views of the structure of the bridge which is absolutely amazing.

“Great location under the Golden Gate Bridge.”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

Well maintained 4-story Civil War era fort. You and your kids can climb the stairs (make sure you keep an eye on them so they don't get hurt) an look out over the bay. Incredible view of the underside and structure of the Golden Gate Bridge. Nice little gift shop - limited interpretation, but really a great site where you can easily spend 1. 5 - 2 hours.

Worth a visit. Just a short walk from the Golden Gate Bridge visitors center. Offers great views of the bridge and the fort itself is very well maintained and great people working there.
