This little museum takes about an hour to explore and it's very interesting. It's hard to understand San Fran's heritage without learning about the Chinese experience and their influence on San Francisco's development. Probably not great for kids unless there is a tour going on, but otherwise it provides a nice, quiet and informative breather in the midst of site seeing and shopping in China Town.

“Very Informative”

This was a Goidelic tour with lots of history. Went to a Chinese temple, hand made fortune cookie factory(got free samples) and an amazing final stop at a tea shop. This was probably the highlight. Learned so much about teas!! Got this through Groupon but would buy a ticket anyway.

“Great tour!”
Reviewed 5 November 2007

Our whole family visited San Francisco for many times, but we only discovered this gem during our recent trip, the Chinese Culture Center's "Heritage Walk", their tour is very flexible with great rate. We started off meeting our guide at the Center's gift shop, a very nice boutique, while we are waiting for her, we visited their gallery. Their exhibit "Nostalgia", a contemporary photography, video and installation show gave us a wonderful visual, historic and cultural experience, it was better than we thought!

Then following the guide, we went on the tour of Chinatown, boy, the alley streets became so much more with the guide's information! We also went into the famous temple, which is tiny, mysterious and very unique, she took us to so many places inside the building, telling us the history, even the fortune cookie factory, a dark but very warm and friendly place!

Because we enjoyed our tour so much, we told our friends in San Francisco, and guess what, they also took it themselves and loved it!
