The lunch I tried to eat here recently was bar none the worst restaurant meal I have been served in years. The iced tea tasted like the Wildroot hair tonic my father used to use. The "bavette" steak comprised three small pieces of beef surrounded by french fries drowned in gravy--that's right, french fries in gravy. We sent the tea back, of course, and then they tried to charge us for it. I have had a number of takeout meals from the OTD at Ferry Plaza, and only rarely have they risen above mediocrity. The famous Slanted Door itself is an intolerable environment, a complete assault on the eardrums, and better Vietnamese food can be had at almost any other Vietnamese restaurant in the city. The whole outfit, in my view, is a fraud.
