We weren't sure about this museum and honestly made the trip not knowing if we would go in or just take a look around and enjoy the view. When we decided to go in, I showed my student ID to get the discounted ticket, the lady at the counter asked us if we came by bus and to show her our tickets, i don't know how but we ended ip paying $12 usd instead of $40, so a great start.

The collection is just amazing, I loved the right wing and was delighted with all the works from Matisse and Rodin. We didn't have time to go to the special exhibits, since the permanent collection will take plenty of your time. The building itself is also breathtaking, and the views are amazing.

Be sure to stop by!

After visiting the special exhibit on the impressionists and then seeing the rest of this fabulous museum, I wish I could have gone back and gone thru it again. Looking at painting requires contemplation and more than one look.

We went to see the intimate impressionism exhibition, we were not disappointed. Many expressive works of art by top rated french impressionists.

This was my 2nd visit to this art museum with hopefully future visits to come. Visited to see the exhibits to include the Impressionist paintings from the National Gallery of Art and the Matisse paintings from the SFMOMA. The drive and scenery are also a plus when driving to the museum via Lincoln Blvd along the bay coast.

Recently visited to see the Mellon Impressionist exhibit from the National Gallery. How were they able to pull that one off? The permanent collection was as impressive as others we have seen in large cities, and well worth the price of admission in itself. The exhibits are well organized and the docents knowledgable. The museum is located on a beautiful hillside and is designed in the classic style. You could spend the day here (and we did), so bring your picnic lunch for the grass area and view, or bring your wallet for the cafe. Pricey but excellent quality.
