“great location, horrible hotel...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

close to everything, but i would not take my family or girlfriend there... horrible... i was on the third floor and the floor was like sinking down... the bed cover was nasty, the sheet seem clean, furniture falling apart, bathroom seems clean but old, tv yes but not control... bed screeching at every move, smelly corridors with old nasty carpets... attendant sleeping in chair in the morning with smelly feet... if you are a guy traveling on your own and can pass all this things then stay here... but do not take your girlfriend or wife here, unless you dont care about them...

As I sat with my head on the headboard, watching one of the two channels we could get on the tv, I realised that bed bugs had made a little home on the headboard right near where my head had just been.
My friend woke up in the middle of the night to find a strange man peering through our window from his bedroom whilst he was having sex with a woman we assume he had picked up from the strip club downstairs. She immediately shuts the window that we had left open to air the stale room that does not have air-con!
The showers had a very strange smell and were filled with Chinese women washing each other on a regular basis. Shower shoes were a MUST!!
I feared for my life in this place and would not wish this experience on my worst nightmare!!

Don't ever come here with your family / girlfriend / wife. Chances are that you will come happily but go shabbily.

Good for Bagpackers and a solo stay due to its good location.

No good value for money , Rooms bear a picture where they havent been cleaned since decades!!

Room Tip: No tip. If you stay at 1st Floor, you will have to go to 2nd Floor to unload ( Bloody Washroom is at...

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life. Do not stay here no matter what happen. Everything is dirty, there is no room service, everything is old, there are weird people everywhere, people doing drugs, the shower was broken, bed bugs, the guy on the "lobby" do not respect the guests, he listen to loud music at 1am, the smell is very very horrible, the hotel is surrounded by strip clubs, there are gangsters in the street at night, the place is horrible to park. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL

Do not stay here if you value your health, or your life in general! We were parked right across the street from this 'hotel' and it still had to be pointed out to us by a cab driver. There is no signage and from the outside you would never believe there was a 'hotel' inside. The door was covered in splats of some sort of white substance, I don't want to imagine what it was. On entering the building there was a strong smell of urine, not a very nice welcome to say the least. The hallways smelled of marijuana and there were some very dodgy looking characters roaming the corridors. From the get-go I felt very uncomfortable about the place. The room was very basic with no a/c, the window was being held open with a waste paper bin; not exactly secure. There was no screen on the window to keep bugs out. There was a rat trap under the sink in our room, the hotel was clearly no stranger to rodents. The room was dirty, there were cigarette burns in the bedding, the pillows and duvet were stained, there was graffiti in the wardrobe/closet area and there was a guy in a room a few doors down telling two scantily clad women "I'm not paying you $40 for THAT"... pretty obvious what was going on in there! 3 hours after checking in we checked back out again. The night man was very unhelpful; didn't offer us a different room and wouldn't refund us for the first night even though we literally could not stay even one night. Also, this 'hotel' is located between two strip clubs.
So save yourself the horror, and the money that they will rob you of, and pay that bit extra for somewhere that is actually habitable. We checked into a much better place at 2am on Broadway, just around the corner, which was clean, had friendly staff and offered free parking for less than $20 more a night.

We booked this place without much research, because it was 6pm on a Saturday and we needed a place that night (fiance and I). We originally booked a bedroom without a bathroom, thinking the shared bathrooms would be fine. My fiance used the bathroom soon after checkin, said it was horrible, and we asked for an upgrade. (I was already hesitant with the room, being that the curtains were falling down, the sheets looked very old, and the closet had graffiti in it). We paid twenty dollars more for an upgrade, and found that room to be renovated with a nice shower, hardwood floors, and newer mattress. The place itself is old and heavily traveled, so there's no getting around that, but the updated room was welcomed after that first one we saw. Pay the extra money for the room with a bathroom!! Also, only 2 bars of soap were provided so ensure you bring your own shampoo, conditioner, etc. The location is AWESOME and surprisingly pretty quiet at night. Price was good for a stay in San Fran

Room Tip: pay for the room with a bathroom! (third floor instead of second - second floor rooms have significa...

This Hotel / Hostel is really good if you're young.

The location is great, between Columbus Ave and Broadway, near to the Fisherman's wharf (the bus 8x stop in front of the hotel's door and go directly to the Pier 39). It is also close to Union Square and Lombard Street. (Coit tower is about 15 minutes walking)

The girl and the front desk is really nice, she helped me a lot and she was friendly all the time.

The contras are that there are a LOT of stairs, so girls and old people be aware of it, you'll have to carry your luggage like 2 floors. If you have a big bag like me, its going to be a little bit tired and hard to get it upstairs.

The window at the sink wasn't closing
The shared mens bathroom was dirty, with bugs, cockroaches and some other kind of insects.

They didn't clean at all the room (I was 3 nights), I think you have to take the trash out to a room but it was no info about it anywhere.

My room was oriented to Columbus, so I had a lot of noise all the day and night

Its good because its cheap, but if you're expecting a fancy hotel/hostel, this is not your choice
