Sadly this was out first hotel in San Francisco and it was not a pleasant experience. The hotel was dinghy, hot with no Air-con, dirty and the rooms were not very secure. The breakfast was terrible as was the service. The only day I saw a staff member at the hotel was on day 5 when we left. The lift took forever to travel 4 floors and broke down on a regular basis. The bathroom was tiny and there was absolutely NO room for toiletries. Because of the America's Cup being on at the time, the hotel charged top dollar and we were bitterly disappointed. We could have stayed at a 5 star hotel in Australia for less.

Room Tip: Bypass this hotel altogether. Much better hotels on offer in San Fran for a fraction of the price.

This was our first time to San Francisco, so we didn't know where we should stay. I found this hotel online and the price seemed right for us. The hotel was nice, clean and within a mile of Fisherman's Warf - a great distance if you like to walk. They also offer a complimentary continental breakfast with stay. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was very small. It would be great if they added an area for us ladies to put on our makeup while our spouse showered. I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool instead of the street. Our room faced Van Ness which could be a...

Overall, very good. Theresa is wonderful and staff helpful. At times noisy on the street side. Highly recommend adding a large mirror (or even a smaller one) outside of bathroom. Would recommend to family and friends. Convenient location, right on busline.

50th Birthday long weekend with my sister ( the birthday girl ) and my niece. booked on line combined with flight. Arrived at about noon and was greeted by a wonderful man at the front desk. He gave us a great room, beds where so comfy, room was clean and big and we had very nice robes in the closets. Hotel a 20 minute walk to Fisherman's wharf 25 minutes to Pier39. Front desk was very helpful with arranging tickets to Alcatraz and the hop on hop off tours. We kept the do not disturb sign up so we did not have house keeping. Breakfast was ok. The pool was very clean and warm. The night before we left we asked the front desk if we could get a few pears as we were catching a very early flight home and would not be there for Breakfast. 20 minutes late there was someone at our door with a plate of fresh fruit, from pears, banana's, peaches and oranges. Awesome stay, Awesome room and great staff. Would book here again in a heart beat.

Flew to San Francisco to do some filming at Napa Valley. The first hotel I stayed at had a number of problems. When I arrived, I showed up early, and my room was still being cleaned. Jeff at the front desk was GREAT in getting me in ASAP. When I went to my room, it was clean and comfortable, and the view was SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you da Vinci Villa for putting my trip back on track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms 526 & 527 has the best views.

While the pricing is affordable, the neighborhood safe and the property clean, don't believe a word of what they say on the website. This is by no means a luxury hotel. It is a converted low end motel that has nice bedding (and that is about it). The rooms were dark. The overhead lights were dim and poorly placed. The furniture (outside of the mattress and linen) were old and looked like it came from a second hand store. The tables next to the bed were too large for a bed side table which made getting in/out of bed ackward. The desk was no where near an outlet so using a computer was difficult. The "restaurant" was only open in the morning, serving a free continental breakfast. Good thing it was free--the breads were stale, the dishes dirty, and service non-existent. The front desk will call a cab for you but don't be surprised if you have to wait for 30 minutes. There are no bellmen or concierge. The noise level overnight -- from what I found out at check out -- was from college students who live in the hotel. Now what luxury hotel has college students as residents. Nothing about this hotel was luxury. More like a Super 8. Unless you are really looking for inexpensive lodging in the Russian Hill area specifically -- don't stay here.
