This is my second stay at this property. Rates are great and even better if you are in the Armed Forces. The fact that I am a Reserve Officer, in the Canadian Forces, makes no difference to them - I am given the same rates as an American service member.

What makes this place so wonderful - the staff. Attentive, genuinely concerned about the well being of the guests and very helpful.

One of the best breakfasts that I have had in a North American hotel. Happy hour is a great way to end the work day and the opportunity is there to interact with other guests if one is so inclined.

The library is awesome and a place to relax. A well equipped public gym in the basement.

I'll be back!!!

My family of 4 (teenagers) just spent 10 great days in San Fran. The staff were amazing. Gary and Troy were the most helpful concierges. Free full-all you can eat breakfast and the free happy happy happy hours was just icing on the cake after a long day of sightseeing. Servers in the breakfast room/bar were very attentive and polite. The waiters even packed a "brunch to go" for us to take to The OutsideLands Music Festival" Cleaning staff were friendly and thorough. Hotel is situated in an ideal location. Just a couple blocks from Union Square (shopping), Chinatown, cablecars, and maybe 5-6 blocks from the BART. Access to public transportation is right across the street. 15min-20 min bus ride to many local attractions. Golden Gate Park, Fishersman Wharf, Presido, Alcatraz, Coit tower, Haight/Ashbury and AT& T Park. The hotel and room was a "bit" dated but that's part of the charm. Hotel was full of memorials and memorabilia from America's war heroes. Just visting all the history on the various floors and museum was a treat in itself. My girls liked visiting the bulldogs (hotel mascots) every morning for a belly rub and ear scratch.I would challenge anyone to find a nicer hotel for $159.00 a night that feeds a family of 4 a delicious full breakfast and offers free cocktails to adults within 50 miles of downtown San Fran. Thanks to the staff of The Marine Club for making our stay very very enjoyable. FYI Rent a car and head to Muir Woods. Petumula Bay and Bodega Bay for a sightseeing and discount mall shopping day trip.

We didn't stay at the Hotel, but we did have dinner at the Leathernecks Steakhouse. One word: WOW! We LOVED it. It is a smaller venue, with a great view of the city, a piano being played, great little bar. The service was impeccable, the food was OUTSTANDING. We had the small fillet, cooked medium, and a Rib-eye, cooked Med-Rare to Med. They were PERFECT the first time. The sides were excellent. The wedge salad was killer. All for a VERY reasonable price. We are not members of the "club" there, but now that the hotel and restaurant are open to the public, this is GREAT place. Love the old memorabilia and pride in our armed services. Will look forward to staying at the hotel next time!

My husband and I were in San Francisco and on a whim decided to make a night of it. Since he is a member of the Marines Memorial Club, we were able to get a great room here at a very reasonable price for downtown San Francisco. The service was great, everyone was very helpful. The room was big, along with the bathroom and there was an abundance of soap, shampoo and conditioner available in the bathroom.

They have a gym and a pool that is great and my husband talks of going back and working out next time we're there. There's also a small commissary type store downstairs as well. Parking was available at a nearby parking garage for $25 (I believe), which is more than we wanted to pay for parking, but it was very convenient considering the location. Breakfast was included in our price and it was VERY nice. The breakfast room is on the top floor overlooking the city. There was a wide selection of food and drinks and we were both pleased with breakfast.

We are definitely planning on going back. It is an older hotel which could use some upgrades, but is a great value if you're a member.
