Great location, basic room, but everything you need. No frills breakfast, tea, coffee, muffins, pastries. No milk though so take your own!!.
A few footsteps from the cable car stop, restaurants, bars etc. a couple of blocks to Union square.

Not the picture of the rooms you see on the site, very average, didn't find the staff very helpfull. We could hear the people across the hall from us and also hear people on the next floor. Chinatown location, which was good but good have been a bit cheaper. No milk for your tea only coffee mate....yuk

I liked that this hotel is very well located, close to downtown and in a safe area of the city. It is very close to Chinatown, as well. The hotel could be somewhat cheaper, but you pay more for the better location.

This hotel is a gem. You can catch a cable car a half block away. Chinatown is two blocks. Union Square and the subway system are only a few blocks away. You can rent a car across the street.
We dealt with perhaps five reception people in our six day stay and all were most friendly and helpful.
Though the breakfast was limited to pastries, fruit, and beverages, the pastries were of high quality and the coffee was exceptionally good for hotel coffee.
There were always groups of people conversing or meeting in the comfortable lobby.
We highly recommend this hotel.
The rooms were clean. There was no view, but this hotel is a gem for a reasonable price.

This is a no frills value for money hotel, in a wonderful city where space and location comes at a premium. On arrival we were greeted by the infamous "rude" receptionist (other reviewers description not mine). I can see where people are coming from as she did seem to regard us as an unwanted interruption to her conversation, however she did her job efficiently and we were quickly on our way up to the room. The room itself was basic but well laid out, bed comfy and AC worked well. Breakfast consisted of a few muffins/Danish pastries and coffee, certainly not enough to live on but enough to keep you going until the nearest diner ( If you want the best breakfast in San Francisco head for Mama's on Washington Square I promise you won't be disappointed) . San Francisco is a great city but you had better be prepared to walk and the hills can be hard going for even the most enthusiastic of sightseers. On foot the hotel is about 30 mins from Fishermans Wharf, 5-10 mins from Union Sq and 20 mins from Russian Hill and the Hairpin riddled section of Lombard st. If you are planning on seeing Golden Gate Bridge I would highly recommend hiring a bike from one of the many outfits dotted around the city, we used Blazing saddles. The cycle over the bridge and up into the hills in Marin County overlooking the bay was possibly the highlight of our trip! Good hotel, decent location, reasonably priced, slightly grumpy receptionist.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor

You could not find budget price with fair accommodation under great location near Union Square. This will be your favorite choice.

Staff are so friendly. Basic continental breakfast is very ok ( except coffee tasting like water .....+ good muffin)

Surely, we will revisit...

Close to pizza restaurant, Uncle Vinto. You should try it. Wallgreen and 7-11 are located only one block from hotel.

If souvenir needed, Wallgreen is the best place.

If planned to buy Hop on Hop Off, you should not buy it from website, bargain can be made at Union Square.
