This hotel wasn't very good, apart from the position which is near Union Square. The rooms are old but clean. Most of the staff is Chinese with some Hispanic girls but everyone wasn't really kind. Never smiling and never keen on helping you. Some parts of the hotel smelt bad. But the worst thing was breakfast: some old croissants, apples and coffee from a machine. You even have to pay to have a juice. So, if you can avoid booking a room without breakfast, do it!

The Grant Hotel is a clean but average hotel in San Francisco. If you are budget minded, you can not beat the price. They service coffee, juice, and muffins for breakfast. The muffins are taste. The hotel is located near the Chinese and financial districts.

Hotel is basic but in a great location, close to Union Square and to the tram line. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy. Perfect if you just need a bed for the night.

If you are a little budget conscious wanting a quiet hotel in a fabulous location then this hotel is for you. The rooms are big and bathrooms are spotless. Breakfast comprises of pastries and muffins which was not for us but great to take for your morning tea. Just around the corner is a supermarket that has really cheap breakfast options. We stayed on the 5th floor at the end of the hallway...so quiet. No street noise at all.
Bill who greeted us is a gem.

Although the hotel is dated, the room was very clean and very quiet (we had room #12) . Mattress was firm, but not as hard as other reviewers stated. Pastries for breakfast are a plus given the price range of this hotel. Parking at discounted rate across the street (30$ per day, to be paid at the hotel at check out).
Remember this is a 2 star hotel in a expensive city, so you get what you pay for - we think this was perfect value for money.
