“Ok but a touch pricey”
Reviewed 13 February 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights in January 2013. The hotel is very conveniently located close to BART and bus stops. San Fran isn't all that big anyway so it was easy to walk to most places too! It's about a 2 minute walk from the nearest BART station. Powell street is about 20 seconds walk down the road, there are food vans everywhere and the cable car stop is at the corner. It's a quick 5 minute walk down to Market St and there's also two Westfield shopping centers within about a 5 minute walk.

The reception is right at the back of the hotel. You enter through the front and walk down a long hallway. We were checked in quickly and took the elevator up to our room.

This hotel is advertised as a boutique hotel , and that's what it is. I don't think this has always been a hotel, possible converted from something else, as from the photos I saw on the internet, and the room we were assigned, they are very very different.

The room was a weird layout, as we walked in there was a small room at the front where we could put our luggage and there was a closet, coffee facilities and safe. To the right was a large bathroom with a shower bath combo, toilet and small vanity, then towards walking back past the bathroom was a small bedroom with a double bed, TV, only one bedside table and a mini fridge.

We paid the extra and booked a QUEEN room, but we realised on the last day that we weren't sleeping in a queen size bed. I since complained and we were refunded the difference.

The room was kept very clean, never had any troubles.

San Fran was a very expensive place when we looked for hotels, we ended getting this one for cheap on special at about $165 a night, all in all we would probably stay here again, but only if we couldn't find a comparable hotel cheaper.

Dear josh-aus,

Thank you for choosing Hotel Fusion on your recent stay, and for sharing some photos.

Being built almost a century ago, our historic building (which gives it that charming boutique-y feel) features variable room sizes, from cozier to larger ones. The photos you've shared is one of our accessible rooms, and hence why it had a large open space upon entry and the large bathroom.

Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back to our boutique hotel on your next visit to San Francisco.

Sincerely,
John Dimalanta

Stayed here for one night during busy convention event - at $270 a night it was a very poor value for a tiny room with windows sealed shut, clumsy window unit AC for ventilation, no work desk, basic bed and a view of an air shaft. No menus available for places that deliver, no restaurant on site.

Building must have been a YMCA, SRO hotel or a medical faciilty - hallways are wide with lots of glass partitions tht give it a very institutional and cold feel.

Pluses: refrigerator, partially empty, and downright reasonable snack basket/mini bar prices. Basic starches and free coffee in lounge on 5th floor for breakfast, and staff was very helpful/friendly.

Odd: this is the second SF hotel I have stayed in where staff express concern that I mght have trouble finding a taxi in a city filled with them. Beware racket of door men who claim there are no taxis and then try to convince you need to take a reserved town car that comes with kick backs to the staff.

Room Tip: consider options carefully - for what I paid there are usually many more options with larger rooms...

The hotel is very conveniently located in downtown San Francisco, with shopping incredibly close by, the BART only a few blocks away and Union Square only a few moments walk away. Staff were very friendly, helpful and the rooms were cleaned and in great shape upon our return every evening. Very affordable and appealing to all types of travellers.

This is a very convenient downtown hotel, especially for the BART, shopping and transport to all parts of the city. I stayed last week with a friend and we found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We had booked such a cheap deal that the small, rather dull room was just what I expected. However, it was clean, comfortable bed, excellent shower, good towels and free wifi. I have stayed previously in a spacious, light and newly decorated kingsize room which was lovely. The hotel is on a busy street which is noisy all hours of the day or night, so if you want the window open, take ear plugs.
A friendly and practical hotel, but romantic and pretty, it is not!

Room Tip: SAn Francisco is an expensive city. However, even the spacious kingsize rooms are good value at Hote...

In an era where most of the San Francsico hotels I've stayed in have priced themselves out of my budget, Hotel Fusion remains in a reasonable price range (except during big conventions and events) for a nicely situated, comfortable hotel. It's just a couple of non-hilly blocks from the BART station, the start of the Powell Street cable car line, and Union Square. Our room and bathroom were modest in size but very clean, well laid out, and with good facilities (comfortable king bed, big closet, desk, chair, minibar fridge with room for dinner leftovers). On previous stays we've had smaller rooms, but they have all been clean and comfortable. The staff was enthusiastic, friendly, and service oriented. 10 minutes after we got to our room the front desk called to make sure everything was okay. Several staff members made restaurant recommendations tailored to our requests, and one was able steer us to the best cannoli in town. It does get noisy on the street at night (a problem in many SF hotels); bring earplugs if you need them. The lobby is small; there's no lobby bar or restaurant, which is not a problem in this restaurant and bar-intensive city. A basic breakfast is available (pastries, instant oatmeal, pieces of fruit) if you're really budget minded.

Room Tip: If the size of the room matters to you, ask the friendly staff for assistance when you book

We rushly booked the room for a night and found that this hotel was only a minute walk from Powell Station(train station in the heart of the city from the airport). Staff were friendly and welcome to answer questions. The bed was amazingly comfortable and amenities were provided in the bathroom. The only thing I'd like to comment is that the room is really small and the heater/fan was not so easy to use. I however enjoyed my stay and think it was truly worth the money.

I went with my husband 4 nights to this hotel, and the location is perfect. In the heart of the center. It is very clean also. The only problem is that the rooms are very very small, and the air conditioner makes a loud noise that bother a lot.
It is good if you are not going to spend a lot of time in the hotel.
