“HUGE in size & selection”

Went to Haight Street just to visit this store and it was definitely awesome. It was the largest record/music store I have ever been to and I was able to find music from all around the world too. They sell many albums second hand as well, so it's a good place to get a deal.

“Huge amazing record store.”
Reviewed 26 February 2014 via mobile

We should have done our research before coming here.. This place probably holds every record from anyone who has made music.
Great place for music lovers and movie lovers. The history is incredible too.
One downside is I wasn't able to find any place to listen to an album before buying it.
A listening lounge would be very cool. Perhaps I just didn't see it.
Any music lover could spend at least a few hours here.

“Paradise for Music Lovers”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

This was hands down the biggest music store I've ever set foot in, and I loved it and I wished that I could live there. Okay, well, maybe not live there, but . . . it's certainly got its charm. If you're looking for records, they have 'em. If you're looking for CDs, they have those, too. If you're looking for books or turntables or souvenir t-shirts or anything to satisfy your music-loving soul, go to Amoeba and you won't be disappointed. Pinky promise.

“Great stop for music and movie fans”

Should have left more time for this one. On our Big Bus orientation tour this record store was pointed out and we returned the next day to have a browse. Fantastic selection at good prices and also managed to pick up a couple of hard to find DVDs. Complete the visit with a trip to to the tie dye shop and lunch at Burger Urge.

“For real enthusiasts”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

I love Amoeba. It's one of the few places left in the world that offers the experience of shopping for,and discovering music. There's more here than can be looked at in a day,so have a priority list of what you want,as it can get overwhelming once you get to the clearance sections!
If you're really keen, set aside the day for yourself,I lost an entire afternoon here.
Be sure to ask the staff for help or suggestions,as they really do have a huge range of music and dvds!
