Whoever picks the wines for this place does a really nice job at finding good choices I would normally not buy or even find. More of an international wine shop than a California shop. They have wines from Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. They also have great wines from Greece, Hungary, Georgia, Croatia, and Turkey. Flights are around $15. The best one I had was a dessert flight. A really nice treat. I will be back.

Found this near our hotel on google maps and checked it out on trip advisor. It sounded good and my wife and I enjoy doing wine flights to broaden our knowledge and experience with wines. It's also a great way to compare different types and styles of wines from around the world. We stopped by on a Sunday evening just after arriving in the city. As you might expect, they weren't busy. The girl greeted us warmly and made of comfortable right away. She explained all about the wine flights and wine available as well as the food. My wife tried a flight of white wines and I went with red. We got a nice cheese assortment to nibble on too. The wines and cheese were great and complimented each other perfectly. The girl spent quite a bit of time visiting with us and making sure we were enjoying ourselves even though several more groups came in too. A great little place for wine flights and appetizers in the downtown area. The chutney on the cheese plate was fabulous!

Ever feel like you're getting "second class treatment" because you like wine by the glass vs. buying the bottle? Well go to The Barrel Room, a cozy, friendly spot in downtown SF. They have over 40 bottles of wine, available by the glass...and it gets better, they switch out new wines every 6 weeks, a fabulous idea to keep exploring and discovering great wines. They offer flights of wines too.

The space has comfy couches, a fireplace, and very knowledgeable, but unpretentious wine staff. All in all a great spot that you'll be glad to know. Cheers!

This is a very charming spot, with great wines and atmosphere. The person who served us (we didn't get her name, unfortunately) was excellent, seems to know a lot about wines and is very pleasant to talk to. Our group of 3 had the place to ourselves as it was very early in the evening, so we probably got a lot more attention than we would later in the night, and it was just a nice spot to chill for 45 minutes or so (but I'd guess that it's a great spot - perhaps an even better spot to hang out - when it's very busy later in the evening). We'll be back!

Pleasant room and nice atmosphere at the back of a hotel ....various wines to sample however be warned more of a wine tasting place than a bar but without the pretentious edge sometimes found in these establishments !!
