No matter how much you try not to end up in SFO's Fisherman's Wharf... you will - sooner or later! So instead of staying in the middle of the city, where limited touristy things are happening and to be seen - why not stay in the middle of it all in hotel ARGONAUT at the Fisherman's Wharf? You'll be extremely centraly located to do all the things you will do as a tourist anyway. Most of the bicycles, the segways and the go-karts are rented out on Fisherman's Wharf. Most of the bus-tours leave from here anyway, the Alcatraz-Ferry is right there and all the other boat-tours as well. The hotel itself has charm! Not one of those anonymous lookalike hotel-blocks, yet not with the B&B touch that gives you the creeps when you want your peace. Solid 4 star service and standards, sprinkled with a special Argonaut-feel, that will not make you regret having chosen a hotel with a location in the middle of it all.

Room Tip: A room with a partial bay-view is nice, but in the end - go out there! Explore the city outside your...

Hi, Marc H,
I smiled to see that we see eye to eye: better to admit you are a tourist and embrace a location where there are things to see and do, right :)?!
And we're glad you had fun being immersed in the feel of the waterfront at our property. The historic charms of the brick and beam do give us a leg up on the competition. The museum here run by the National Park Service (our friendly land lord) is free and quite interesting, too!

We really loved this hotel, very quaint and excellent location. The staff were eager to please, we had a leak from the air conditioning in the roof, we called to report the problem to reception and within 3 minutes the engineering director (handyman) was there to fix it. We would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Ask for a good view, ours looked onto the Golden Gate Bridge

Well, thank you, shanksters, and we love you right back :).
I have already shared this with the director of engineering to let him know he is famous. Seriously, though, we're delighted you felt the service team was so helpful and you had a great time here with us!

Fisherman's Wharf has become busier, noisier and trashier in the six years since we were last here, and if we came to this wonderful city again, we would stay downtown - but if you are staying on the Wharf, then the Argonaut is well-located at the quiet end close to Ghiradelli Square. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful. The complimentary wine session every evening was very welcome. Rooms are large and comfortable although the sound-proofing could be better. Opt for a room with exterior views (ours looked out towards the Golden Gate Bridge) rather than those facing inwards over a drab internal courtyard. We did not eat in the hotel since there were plenty of excellent eating places for breakfast and dinner close by.

Hi, GretaBridge,

Thank you for your review! I agree we are blessed to be situated at this western end of Jefferson Street. The city's sidewalk widening project did make the area less popular for cars, and of course it's great to be near the Aquatic Park and those Bridge and Alcatraz views. I hope we will see you again, and next time maybe you could try to infamous crab & corn chowder (so addictive!) here at the Blue Mermaid :).

I stayed here as the final location on my honeymoon and was not disappointed in any way from the moment we arrived at The Argonaut. Great location next to Fisherman's Wharf and the rooms are unusual and beautiful. We stayed in a standard room which was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully decorated. As we were on honeymoon we received complimentary chocolates and sparkling wine on arrival to our room which was lovely. The staff are incredibly efficient and check in/check out was very quick and easy. I also loved the wine tasting hour each evening, a great way to real at the end of hectic days sight-seeing. I would without a doubt return to this hotel if staying in San Francisco again.

This was my first time at a Kimpton property and because of this experience I have now stayed at 2 others. I was very pleased with the service. The check-in was efficient and the staff informative and helpful. The location is great as well although I think the prices of the rooms reflect that. The room was very comfortable and well appointed, the room service excellent and they were very accommodating when my sister brought her (massive) dog, even providing a water bowl in the room. The only one little issue was the bartender was a bit rude and off-putting when we went down for drinks and only wanted to sit at the bar and not have food. Otherwise everything was excellent and I've become a big fan of Kimpton.

Yay! Thanks, JLM235!

We are tickled pink to know that we've converted you to Kimpton! I hope you've joined up with our free Karma Rewards program to enjoy the privileges of being "a loyal" :).

I have shared your feedback about the bartender with the restaurant GM, Adam, who is eager to know more if you have a moment. Meanwhile, I'm happy everything was smooth sailing on the hotel end of things, and you loved the service. We do try to cater to the pet-lovers and pet avoiders both. Thanks and see you around the Kimpton Nation!

Arrived late and as we'd missed wine hour they gave us bar vouchers instead which was a nice touch. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful.
On the edge of the tacky Fishermans Wharf area but its not right in the middle of it so location is good, and close enough to walk to some attractions.
Valet parking is expensive but efficient.
The room had a view of the bay and was well equipped.

Hello, and thank you, Mark 201105!

I see that you also enjoyed the in-the-middle-of-everything-yet-at-the-edge location of the Argonaut. I agree that it strikes a nice balance, with all the conveniences, but less of the crowds. And, it doesn't hurt to have the Aquatic Park and cable car next door :).

Thanks for your kudos to the team for their service; we'll be sure to pass this along!

Hotel is located on a corner facing a park and shops in a nice area. The hotel is nautical themed. They honored my request for a quiet room on a higher floor. The rooms are spacious and well designed, clean, cozy. Free wifi for members and it works well! The gym is fantastic, had everything I needed and there's even a yoga mat in your room. I love Kimpton hotels because they pay attention to details. Only thing that was off was that the price list for the mini bar was not in my room.

Room Tip: Request outward facing room. Looked like some of the rooms face an interior courtyard with nothing...

We do try to pay attention to those details and provide the little "perks" that hopefully make you feel more at home. Thanks for being a loyal Kimpton Karma Rewards guest. I hope you got to Raid the Bar while you were here to take advantage of that benefit, as well.
