I used to play this course regularly as the overall experience of a rich and varied selection of tough par 4's, reachable par 5's and eccentric par 3's always made for a memorable experience. However during my past 2 visits during the glorious months of September and October weather, the grounds crew have decided to go beaverish! And have they been busy! All over the course there are diggers, construction crews relaxing in the sun during their lunch break, all sorts of machinery in operation chewing up branches, whole swathes of turf being aerated, signature trees being chopped down all in a seemingly never ending cycle of deconstruction, reseeding and rebuilding? All of this for 18 greens with different grass; fairways that are wet and never seem to dry; tee boxes that are uneven and poorly maintained; bunkers that are never raked and have no more than 1/8" sand; pin placements that are incorrectly marked on the scorecard despite the assurances of the starter that pin placement #1 is in effect today; holes that are taken completely out of play for more than 60 days of supposed improvement while you continuously clean the mud from your shoes and clubs in 75 degree weather?
