“Pastry Heaven”
Reviewed 7 September 2012

This bakery is a favorite of mine. Arrive at breakfast time and try to choose from among the croissants. The almond is delicious but so is the chocolate hazelnut croissant and the the veggie croissant is excellent. Some people like to fill up on the ham and cheese croissants.

If turnovers are your thing, you can breakfast on lemon turnovers or apple turnovers but then again, there are the divine orange cinnamon breakfast buns. If you don't buy anything else, you must try these. Other favorites of mine are the sugar brioches, sticky buns, vanilla blueberry pound cake, cheese danish, and fruit danish for breakfast. It is a good thing that we live here!

This is a great spot to get a grab and go sandwich and something sweet to go with it for a quick and easy lunch to eat outdoors. Sandwiches include turkey and cranberry, hummus and veggies on 9 grain bread (very filling indeed!), prosciutto and fig, ham and cheese, and cambazola and pear.

For the sweet, I especially love the oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip madeleines, flan tart, vanilla napoleons, and---chocolate ganache tart.

Stop in and sample the goodies here. Everything is baked fresh and you can smell the proof but the best thing is eating the proof!

“Great French Bakery”
Reviewed 28 July 2012

While visiting SF, we went here based on a recommendation. We had no idea this was a chain until I came here to write a review. I was shocked because this little French bakery has the feel and taste of a local, small, family owned business. Not that it matters ... Food is fresh baked and delicious. We had breakfast here three mornings in a row. Fresh fruit bowls, with or without yogurt, granola and honey are available, fresh and delicious. Had lunch here on our last day and had a fabulous Croque Monsiour sandwich. Highly recommended.

“Worth a 45-minute Walk”
Reviewed 15 August 2009

Well priced and really, really tasty and fresh pastries. I loved the tiny sandwiches (which leave plenty of room for desserts) and the vats of fresh latté (which don't). I walked up hill after hill to get here and was rewarded with amazing cream puffs and tarts and cookies to bring home (and by home, I mean the hotel--nothing made it home home). There are also some fun but expensive thrift stores and it's worth a walk to the neighborhood. Some of the counter people were snippy but maybe they were offended by my Julia Childlike pastry lust. The other site a few blocks away has nice staff and room to sit but fewer pastry options.
